james_geldart wrote: Anyone want to knock up a quick detailed guide for fitting this? cheers Basically take the rear wheels off, undo the smaller bolts holding the arb end plates to the trailing arms. Then get an M12 bolt and wind it in to one of the end plates so it comes off, then just pull the end plate on the other side and the whole bar will come out. Easy as that, 20 mins max. Put one end plate back on the thicker end of the new ARB, push the bar back through (Will only fit from one end), refit other end plate and bolt evertything up and refit wheels Look at nwphoto's FAQ for lowering the rear as it's included in the process ________________________________________ Now rollin' in a 182FF |

Put one end plate back on the thicker end of the new ARB, push the bar back through (Will only fit from one end), refit other end plate and bolt evertything up and refit wheels Look at nwphoto's FAQ for lowering the rear as it's included in the process Use a Head Bolt, if you need one I can post you one, if I have enough I'll send one with each future bar. Don't forget that one end has 31 splines and the other 32 splines; this is to allow almost infinite alignment between one end and the other. Trial fit both ends gently on the garage floor or other flat surface to see if you are lucky and the ends line up first time; if not then rotate both ends one spline and try again until they line up perfectly. Now trial fit on the car as many cars are not perfectly aligned; if not, you have a choice: either align them perfectly with the car, or get an assitant to lift the relevant trailing arm until it does line up - although this doesn't sound particularly accurate, imagine the forces of the suspension when it's on the road! Also when trying to get the first lever end off, loosen the 13mm bolts but initially don't remove them fully or the bar will spin. If one side won't come apart easily then try the other; usually the passenger side is worse as all the crap from the kerb gets thrown up this side. If you cannot get the second lever end off, bolt the M12 bolt up tightly and then use a blow torch on the lever end. Failing this you may need to use a hydraulic press; the car is driveable without the ARB but the handling will be appauling and unpredictable so drive slowly! |

I've used a head bolt like Ash said, one thing to bear in mind is the shape of the end of the bolt, it needs to be flat so you may need to cut it off or grind it down.If you have a smaller tapered section on the end of the bolt as manu do have, this can damage the end of the M8 thread in the end of the Anti roll bar. The Right hand end plate (drivers side in the uk) is the one that is intended to be removed when disassembling, the left hand one is drawn fully onto the splines, hence why its easier to pull the R/H one off I dont know if Ash has had it incorporated into his bars, but o.e bars have a cutout on the Left hand fixed end that you align with the bracket retaining hole, tap the end plate/lever onto the splines carefully, then draw it on fully with an M8 bolt and large washer, then fit the ARB through the beam, align the end plate and draw it on with a long bolt nut and washer, simply beating it wont suffice, you need a 1mm clearance overall (0.5mm each side) ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |
