Just fitted my GE Quickshift. A bit of a fiddley job getting to the rod to put it on, but once its fitted what a nice difference the gear throw is just about perfect. I'll have to get one of these on mine. I've got one on the 106 and been very impressed with it, now the 306 seems to have a long gearchange ![]() Is it the same principle of having a small metal bracket on the end of one of the linkages? I got a second hand gearbox put in the other day. When they put the box in they also fitted a GE quickshift.Was fine first day. Then second day started car up and there was a grinding noise when in 2nd, 4th, 6th or reverse, but the grinding noise was only there when I pulled back on the gearstick normally - if i pulled back lightly then it was - in gear and fine. The noise is there all the time in reverse though. Basically do you think the box is knackered or could it just be the quickshift? There is a brand new clutch kit on the car. |

miles its you that sells the gear linkages isnt it (correct me if i'm wrong), so do you think quickshift plus your linkages will work well? |

How the hell do I get the ball join apart where the quickshift goes? Am I missing something, or is it sheer funking brute force that does it, ecause I can't bloody shift mine!and fwiw I've had miles' rods on my 205 for a while now (with a chopped L bracket quickshift mod) and it's absolutely spot on. Gearchange is tight as anything and with the lengths being adjustable, the stick sits in the right place for me too, one of the best upgrades I've done to the car. Think I did the same, just used a screwdriver. iirc I just twisted the linkage on the ball one of the ways it would twist, then levered under it with a screwdriver, took a bit of faffing but it popped off eventually. Was just worried about breaking something, or the other end popping off at the same time and then having to p*ss about with that end too! ________________________________________ ![]() ![]() |

I have one question about the quickshift's compatibility - the 306/Xsara one probably works for 306 S-16 (5-speed) right? But does it work for 405 Mi-16 as well? And if not, is there a model that fits it without modifications?________________________________________ post.tenebras.lux11 May 1998 |
