Ive just bought a ge quickshift and its wating to be fitted - however im seeing a few people not being to happy with them.

I have a bit of time before fitting and accsess to a toolroom - is there any mods I can do before fitting - drill/tap & grubscrew to aid grip on the rod? I presume this is the concern people are having?

Cheers dave b

I've fitted the GE quickshift )new design) a few days ago and I'm really happy with the result. It feels more solid, and not only shorter.

maybe wd40/carb cleaner or grease of some sort?
Although getting a can down there may prove somewhat difficult!

I would not recommend using wd40 since oil damages robber. Better use water with soap.

Going to have a go at fitting mine today.

I have not really looked at the engine bay but I have had a look at the FAQ but it describes it being done from the bottom.

Any FAQ or instructions on how to fit this from the Top?

Does the new quickshift use the old metal rod, cause in the fitting guide (which is old) it is shown with a brand new rod.

Laugh

Let me guess...

1. Open Bonnet
2. Install Quickshift
3. Take car for test drive to make sure installation correct.

Roll eyes LOL

You not going with this compbrake thing then?

Same here, a vague diagram, printed in poor quality on a little sticky label! Laugh Going to give it a go at the weekend, hopefully it'll be as easy as my 106 one Smile
