it will be fine there if you put some heatproof material like zircoflex or thermal sleeving around/behind it Yes i would worry equally as heat as vibration so would pad it with some rubber vibration absorbers too. mine's going there shortly

i've got mine in the footwell passenger side like the btcc's did but not happy with it there

It will be fine there, got mine there abit on a Carbon mount, but another downside to the Omex is there's no clips like other's to secure it down.

Still a long way to go then?

Will give it some thought about the comments thanks.

Its handy place to have it as I can connect my laptop also it keeps the water & engine heat from it.

Cant see a problem with mounting the ecu there, most vauxhalls the ecu is mounted on the back of the block under the manifold.

aye and how many of those go down?... Laugh my ass off

the GM ecu's are designed to sit near/on the engine, they have hefty heatsinks on them to dissipate the heat, an omex ecu does not...

Yes the airbag ecu does normally sit there as standard on the 306, that has no protection, Im sure the omex will be fine. Its better there than in the engine bay, would be much hotter in the where ever you mount it!

The omex is just laying there anyway at present its not been secured, could easily be stuck to the bottom of the dash just above where it is now!

I made a hole in the bulkhead so my Omex could sit in the cabin and not cook in a hot engine bay. I intend to mount it on the tunnel too eventually with the serial port facing backwards for easy access for map changes etc.

I went down to Carls a week ago to see the BTCC at Snetterton, whilst down there I had a go at uploading the map to the ECU but as stated in my thread in the engine section, I had major problem as it was saying the ECU was offline. Huh?

I spoke to OMEX they told me it was the USB - RS232 and that it would be better with a RS232 to RS232.

So Carl got a lead sorted today and after a bit of help from me on the computer side of it, it started with a base map which I got from OMEX.

Carl and I were very pleased Big grin

Hopefully within a couple of weeks I can pick the car up and continue with the project.Big grin Devil

some usb to rs232 dont convert properly, so i would agree with them,

ideally get a laptop witha rs232 (serial) port on.

or get a difference usb to rs232 plug Smile

Hope the map's a good one,
Also I see you haven't used new connectors for the Injectors, Soldering the wires (If this is how it's been done) can break and cause all sorts of issues.
Just some advice.
