Totally gutted, was really looking forward to this weekend, but there’s just too much to do. Shame the race isn’t a week later

Still, you don't want to rush it, may give you the chance of a bit of testing before it's race debut. ________________________________________ Steve |

Great build - Ive just been reading up on the CAstle Combe saloon regs. Can i jsut say that £195 per round is incredibly good value when you consider the price of your average track day! £1555 for a season! Unfortunately I won't be racing tomorrow as the engine isn't quite ready yet Will be there with my stopwatch though keeping a close eye on the other runners. But have got my entry in for the next one (5th May) so I'll def be out then and hopefully for the rest of the year if nothing goes wrong. robjnr - I'm competing in the Castle Combe Saloon Car Championship which is based solely at castle combe. The names of the race meetings are normally dictated by the visiting championships. The Combe Saloon cars are all a max of 10 years old. suffolkpaul - Yeah not bad value at all to enter really, but can get a bit expensive if you want to be competitive. (which hopefully I will be if I'm good enough!) |

Fantastic thread Alan; the car looks absolutely awesome.Good luck tomorrow. In class C, you're up against my 2nd cousin Darren Hay in the MGZR from last year. I'd like to come along to at least one of the events this year, so maybe get to meet you one day! EDIT: Just re-read that you're not racing tomorrow ________________________________________ Trackday, trackday, trackday |

I went down to Cornwall early Tuesday morning to help finish getting the car together and put the last bits to the engine. We got it all pretty much ready to go in the morning, all plummed in with all the fluids and fuel topped up. It looked really good, and massive credit to Sandy's work as all the one off stuff and fabrications looked fantastic and everything was spotless (Wiring in the cabin as well as the engine bay its self). And then… … a bad leak on the back of the block revealed itself. It could be a crack, it's hard to tell, but the engine is coming back out and potentially needs to be rebuilt into another block. It's a grave disappointment after all the effort over the last few weeks, but hopefully Sandy can turn it back around soon enough. Here's the engine bay as it approached completion: Was a long long day yesterday and a dull drive back home. : Got the chassis all set up and corner weighted though while it was bolted together and fluids in briefly and while I was there so could sit my arse in too. Which provided a slight glimmer of a silver lining to the day as it was a very plesent readout indeed! Anyway a couple of pics... New fuel tank: Tastey bits while they were in one peice: It's got a nice stance: (bumper will be sprayed white btw) But once we realised it was a no go, we set straight to stripping it all back down again (after a few minutes depression brake) all ready to come out. Which is now how it stands Full credit and a lot of respect to Sandy for hanging in there though and a big thanks for all his hard work, I don't know how he does it! This one project has tested my resolve beyond belief and I've had a realitivly hands off envolvement. It shall live soon... |

Hard luck mate I had something similar - after spending 2 years and probably £8-10K developing the Rotrex supercharger conversion on my car I drove 300 miles to Manchester for the ECU mapping, only to spin a big-end on the dyno!! I then had to pay a few hundred quid to get it recovered home - I had no AA cover or anything. To add insult to injury they put a hole in sump when lifting the car up on the spec on the recovery truck I rebuilt it, used decent rods, bearings, and oil, and returned to Manchester - then drove home with 391 BHP / 282 ft/lbs It will be worth it in the end Chin up ________________________________________ Contact Details:rich@lynxpowerengineering.co.uk 07732 822546 |
