The gearbox oil from Pug is now 75w rather than 75w80.
Has anyone tried the 75w and is there any noticeable difference in gear selection, smoother?

Talking about thinner oil, I'm running 10w40 at the minute in the engine and I've changed a lot of seals as some were weeping. With the better seals I should be ok to run thinner oil without the issue of leaks.I was thinking of using 5w30, is it ok to use for normal road use in these engines and should I see a slight increase in MPG with it? |

Oil wont increase MPG and i'd be sticking to 10w 40 myself on a standard car |

I use 5w30 in my black rallye had it rebuilt and only use it at night Helps a little with cooler temperatures But for daily id use 10w40 or 5w40 in winter W30 is to low for general use especially if its your daily ________________________________________ BLACK RALLYE - phoenixWHITE RALLYE - valliant http://public.servicebox.peugeot.com/ https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history |

Oops meant 5w40, Total QUARTZ 9000.My thinking was slightly thinner oil being easier for the engine to pump round. |

I do like to keep an eye on MPG as it does tend to show up some issues early. At the moment I'm getting 35mpg on spirited drive to work. It's a shame it motorway mostly and not country roads like it used to be. |
