I've got bad laquer peel on the bonnet and roof of my blaze, would you respray original colour and feather in etc. for ££££ or vinyl wrap for £££?

Wrap I was thinking either both black, maybe matte? Could do carbon bonnet and black roof or vice versa, what do people think?

Not keen on wrapping unless it's the whole car depends on your plans wrapped panels always look like your hiding something. And in your case you are lol

If your going to start repainting or wrapping id take time to design something original but with a twist are you set on solid colours or would you go more adventurous if your going to spend out and your not going to stick with blaze theres loads to choose from get inspiration fron track car pics lots of really nice designs about

AdamB knows vinyl.

if the laquer is peeling the vinyl will pull the rest off and jot stick very well, you need decent paint to wrap it successfully

From prices I've seen it's something like:

£1500 - £2500 full respray with minimal bodywork to fix
£800 for a full, solid colour wrap

The days of getting your car blown over for a couple of hundred quid are gone. :-( what was the paint they used to use they piled it on so they could cut the runs out after lol

Don't wrap over damaged paint, it'll just pull it straight off.
Don't wrap on paint less than three weeks old either.

Really? These are old pugs and we dont expect a finish like a Lambo. I'd have thought most cars that have been wrapped would be more than 3 weeks old...

I think what he means is don't get a panel repainted then immediately go and wrap it

Okay sounds like paint is the way to go then, unfortunately my budget wont get me a full respray so going to look at getting just the lacquer peel sorted first. Thanks for everyones input. Would be nice just to find a decent condition bonnet for the moment but blaze is hard to come by...

I'm no pro but I've done plenty of wrapping of bonnets and roofs before and you could still wrap damaged paint but would need to sand off at least the lacquer if not most of the paint first. Get back to stuff that's actually stuck to the car and effectively prep it for paint then wrap it.

I also heard about a new type of 3M wrap the other day that's very low tack till its been on for a good few days so won't pull off paint it's also a considerable amount better at stopping bubbles.

Mate of mine works for a factors (that told me about it) saw a demo and the guy deliberately made a Argentina bubble in the middle of a panel and then just easily squeezed it straight off the edge with no problem.

Lol I think I could wrap most of a 306 without too much hassle with a second pair of hands. Only bit that worries me is bumpers

Did my bonnet with a mate about 5 years ago now if not more and it's still on there just as well as when was first done.

But you're right about fresh paint I've seen it pulled off to bits because it was wrapped when too new before.
