Hi All,
My name is Iain. Last week I bought Pete's red Rallye!
I thought I'd say hello by way of intro.
I've had a wide and varied car history. Originally I was bought up on a diet of fast peugeots: 2x 405
SRI's, 3x 205 GTI's and 2x 309 GTI's before migrating to other mfr's.
I'm currently building a WRC inspired S5 WRX type R Impreza, but after finding more rust than I would have liked it's now taking me a while to do it.
In the meantime I've been using the wife's M3 on the occasional sprint and track day, but have been increasingly guilty about using her car for that so decided to look for another car that would be a good fun sunny Sunday car, that I can track as well and hopefully contain costs along the way.

I have to say Pete was an absolute Gent and clearly knows his stuff. He went out of his way to keep me informed and help me with questions. I'm up in Cheshire and Pete's on the Sussex border so we did the deal via What's App pretty much. Pete then drove the car to his Dad's in N Wales and I journeyed by train to meet him and collect the car.

I wasn't disappointed and everything was as expected; a very well sorted car with an extensive list of jobs done and lots of subtle little mods. I drove away a happy boy desperately trying to remember how to drive a fwd hot hatch (has been 15yrs!). More recently everything I've been in has been 4WD or RWD.

I'm booked in to a sprint at Curborough on Weds so by Saturday it was wearing new AD08R's all round. I'm sure this is the first of more upgrades (!) but undoubtedly a good one.

Roll on Wednesday and let's see how we go. I'm prob not far off an oil cooler, and if anyone knows where to find a 2.4 ph1 VTS steering rack - let me know!!

Cheers
Iain

It has a fairly fresh xsara vts rear beam Andy with new lemforder beam mounts hopefully won't need much on the rear for a while Wink

Stan got your membership issues sorted then?

I gave Silky on here a PM fir you as he said he has a Jetex exhaust system to sell but havnt had a response neither have others from looks of it.

I'll miss that car had some fun in it the last few months. Last thing I did was shortly before getting to Chirk station I had a new shape focus ST shoot up behind me so decided to see if he would keep up round the next few roundabouts and along the next few bits of dual carriageway.... the answer was no LOL but I put that down to his driving nit the car as he should have got past on the straights but didn't go round the roundabouts quick enough to catch me out of them....

But yes depending in what you want out of it its already a well set up car now I'd personally put some stiffer rear dampers on it as their standard sachs ones but almost new some better spec oil an oil cooler and your away.

Thanks for the warm welcome chaps, much appreciated Smile
Yep as said its a well set up car.
I think a Jetex exhaust would make it more liveable with. The magnex sounds great above 5000rpm, but less good at 3000.
Oil cooler yep. On the list.
Would love a VTS rack too.

Roll on Curborough on Weds - don't think I can make the June date RetroPug but saw you'd booked on.
I'll assess turn in after that, but thinking Spoox hybrid ARB may help?
Cheers

My car never really fails. Just like to improve things and try my best to keep it driving tips top. No point owning a poorly maintained one. LOL

Will do my best. Keeping up a near perfect record of monthly visits in a different car every time!
Worryingly the power outputs of those cars has now dropped from 480bhp to 167bhp..
Don't think I'll go in June - I'd be worried about what I'd end up driving, ha!

It did the other week, you were ready to replace it...glad you managed to sort it though. Thumbs up

Also glad you managed to get back on here Iain, not sure why the membership didn't work when you registered but at least it was a quick fix. Smile

Not the cars fault though. That was a jet wash issue. LOL
