So.
Basically today is the probably 7th or 8th time I've done an oil change on my 6.

The routine is the same every time.

Except this time I used a different pan for the oil, I bought one of those proper drain into a bottle types.

Anyway.
What can go wrong you ask.

A lot it seems...

So every time I do an oil change I do it like this, I might do something wrong but it seems to have worked fine up until now.
I also do it on the exact same part of my drive everytime and yes it is nice and flat...

I get the jack out, Lift the car high enough to get a pair of axle stands under the subframe,
Then I open the oil filler cap get the pan ready, and proceed to get my 21mm spanner on the sump nut and take it out.

Oil drains, Oh look tea is ready, I'll nip inside and come back to it 45 mins later
......
45 mins later
....

Oil is drained, I check that nothing is still coming out of the sump, Nope.

I then proceed to put in a new plug and then remove the filter
a little oil comes out, p**ses all over the front of the engine.
Then I fit the new filter, All is well.

Time to put oil in then, I have 5 litres, the car takes 4.5, So I proceed to fill it until the thick end of 3 litres, about 3.9 ish or dead on 4 (i.e when there 1 litre left in the oil container.
At thisstage I get the kitchen roll ready and wipe the dip stick.

There is already cause for concern
The dip stick is covered in blackened (not practically seethrough) oil
HMM.
I put it back in.
Yup WTF is going in its still well high up and black

f**k
FIJUYHNUIJYH
What did I do wrong then.

Obviously i'm going to have to get some more oil tomorrow......
It literally like this at the mo

END of dip stick-----------------------------------Min line--------------------------------------------Max line-----------------------------------------------Oil ends here.

I f**king hope Newport keep that s**t in stock,

Although I was thinking.

I still have the gearbox oil as it was captured into that new tank think I bought.

I have about 800ml left form the last time I change the box oil as well because I actually put in 2.1litres as opposed to 2.

So maybe I can siphon that back in

Easily done, at least you did nothing permanently damaging. Could have been worse.

All sorted now :p
Yeah only thing that annoyed me is that when i look back on it i seemingly ignored like a million signs that i was f**king up!

Ismt the oil sump usually more flat looking. Nahhh
That oils very clear
Isnt there usually a bit more than that

Etc etc hah
