You can't call super soft tyres that you said were so sticky they were getting ruined by driving them 2 miles down the road "road tyres" LOL

I'd love to stick some R888's on my spare set of superleggeras for track use but funds won't allow atm. 2 holidays and a wedding to pay for Sad

That's easy sorted Pete !.......cancel the wedding & say your buying her lots of shoes LOL

They are 100% road tyres & tread pattern is 100% road not 888 / Dunlop dz03g completion tyres ...it just so happens that they are made in Supersoft for cold countries LOL

My personal view only ....Never rated 888s at top of my tyre list ....good but not great Thumbs up

Pete apart from a fibreglass tailgate & performance 4 plastics back window ...and a new Engine of course ...I really can't think of anything else I really need ?.....Digi dash would be nice but I don't race & my DTA logs everything I need for now Thumbs up

.

Yes me to Mei ...but they weren't designed as a all round road tyre as P2 & P3s were they are a purpose dry to damp motorsport tyre that's just about road legal ..Dunlop DZ03gs have much stiffer side wall & better compound Thumbs up

Toyo R888Rs new tyre has stiffer side wall & is a much better all rounder than r888s and passes new regs also which my Dunlops don't sadly

i've heard so many good things about the Dunlop's everyone raves about them, i've just gone for a set of AD08's as they are pretty cheap for what they are nowadays. I would say the 595 RSR's are a great tyre for the money too!

There is a new Nankang called the AR1 which is supposedly going to be fantastic and rival 888r for less than half the cash...

Ive got Dunlops

They sure last longer and are stiffer and don't overheat as quickly.
Better in the wet too.

Little Friday update ...
Typical now my new engine mount won't allow me to plug my old TPS connector in even if I take the corner off Thumbs down
Had to move my TPS from drivers side Jenveys to Passenger side & my Kseries TPS was only for that side ..
Rang a nice man at Jenvey who for all my hard work supplied one that reversible Thumbs up
Then contacted a amazing bloke called Martin Fox of MEF 07837 721986 who Welshpug knows & bought my own USB to serial Comms link cable for my DTA40s Martin is a wiz with DTA & Jenveys ...I set all the settings up with help from Martin Fox & Sandy Brown & the issue was the loom connector was different so I had to crimp & Solder the worlds smallest 3 pins LOL
Anyway Done

I decided to design & make my own Strut brace that would allow Russain Guy mounts to fully ajust ...
I used 6mm steel plate which wasent fun to work with seeing as I sold my Plasma cutter 15year ago ...had to do everything with Slither discs & flapperdiscs ...took ages ..

The shape evolved to the point that I even heated the strut brace plates & formed them to the strut top shape ...then I butchered a old OMP strut brace for the centre bar & turn buckel & here we have the item before Black zinc plating today ...

PS I'm stitch welding the two plates to the strut tops Crazy

Close ups
Holes & cutout are there so I can still fully ajust Russain Guy top mounts

Drivers side

Made the bar fully removable with 10mm 8.8 bolts

Everything's 6mm steel plate apart from OMP bar & Turnbuckle

I asked Dennis to make me one of his but he said he was far too busy LOL

So I thought sod it I'll over Enginner & make one myself ....hopefully more sturdy LOL

In the picture my cambers on 3.5 ...just on the off chance ...I'm going to be running 2-2.5 I think ?....I can run the camber all the way to max as if the strut brace wasent fitted ... ...that was a bloody big challenge ...that's why I made the two brace
Top plates 6mm thick steel ...
I've decided after I stitch weld them on tomorrow I'm going to make some 4mm spacers & use much longer 8.8 bolts through the 4mm spacers & go ontop & through my strut brace & into Russain guys top mounts that way I've got nearly 8mm of metal supporting everything & A small area of super thick Russain guy mount only in the middle then Thumbs up

The OMP old Strut brace I butchered for the centre bar made things so much easier & once the two brace strut tops are welded on I can really tighten that turnbuckle & make use of that 6mm plate .

It was really difficult heating up 6mm steel to red hot & kind of Black smithing the two brace tops to fit the curvy strut tops ....took hours & hours but I got it now to 1-2 mm in places which im well happy with ...90% of it is even mating Whistle

I run about 2.7 on the Dunlops and it works well. Next test day I'm going to take a camber gauge and do some back to back runs with different settings to see how it affects the car.

Determined to learn to weld this year!

I was coded a long time ago & used Hitachi Welders which were amazing ...remember a good quality welder makes things so much easier Dan Thumbs up

HP tyres said they Run Dzo3gs at 4 believe it or not Dan & said because the sidewalls are super stiff they take it well Thumbs up

Sadly if you didn't know Dan ....they are stopping making them ...because they don't meet ...ready for it EU.....F...ing regs ...and the new design which will be slower but a better all rounder isn't expected for another 18months because of legal bull-.hit
So stock up now Thumbs up

PS Will Declaudio is going to be setting my car up soon & he runs 2.5 on Yoks ad48rs....that's a 106 ...at Combe of course which is dam bumpy

I might be lucky as I don't need them to be road legal so maybe I can pick up some sets. No cash at the moment though.

I've got a SIP 180 3 phase welder which should be ok, just need to get all the bits for it.
