Just got to blend in the bonnet all around now with lots of body filler to the sort of angle you can see on the card |

Small update nothing exciting The bonnet now closes as I wanted Remember this is being made to have a mould taken from it and to have a Prepeg full Carbon Fibre Bonnet Now I’ve temp fixed the centre section to where I need it I had to remove some of the underside front fibreglass section still until the bonnet closes over The new Maxi air box.... I need the front underside Support flex bar to still do it’s job or at high speed it will lift as I had before ....would love a thick Carbon single skin but with just two front side Aerocatches it would just fold and lift at 120plus This was a bonnet on and off 6-7 times until I had a 10mm gap ... Just to point out all this messing about and modifying is because I run a one off oval tube Straight -Sandy Brown inlet manifold that was made for the engine by Satchell Enginering which makes the Airfilter loads higher as the normal inlet curves and mine doesn’t , I’ve also dropped the complete engine by 25mm to the point where it just gives a gap between the subframe and that helps out loads now and gets the centre of gravity lower ...hopefully win win After I cut and removed what needed to be done to close the bonnet I went about strengthening the underside with Fibreglass and Epoxy resin strips .... Then I used P40 to fill in some gaps (great Stuff ) that P40 ... The plan is to finish smoothing the underside out then start on the top again as I need the underside to support the top when I’m sanding and with the vibrations. Lots still to do |

Well I’m getting somewhere now Trial fitted the bonnet and made sure the Aerocatches locked and fitted the Airfilter...... I’ll try the Bumper tomorrow as well but I know that fits but just want to see how it all looks and what surround I’ll have to make to fill the gaps on each side of the Airfilter and underneath the Airbox / ontop of the bumper Then I’ll start to sand / fill - blend the outside of the cutaway bonnet section now the underside is securing it Plenty of nice cold fresh air going to be sucked in now |

I don't think Peugeot put as much effort into the Maxi as you are doing, fair play will be some job if you ever decide it's finished đź‘Ť |

How’s yours coming along ?...your post seems well but as I know all to well anything can happen on the way |

My twin skin fibreglass bonnet was originally Red as you can see My Fibreglass skill are not up-to scratch yet but after a little rub down and (Upol easy 1)filler it should be good enough to take a decent mould from outside and inside ... ....he says hopefully |

I’m pleased with how it blended in After a couple of grey Upol etching primer Coats and a bit very light sanding I’m very pleased with how it came out considering how I cut it about ... The most difficult thing was to get it looking the same all around the filled area Now it’s ready to go to the guy that’s going to take a mould and make the Carbon / twin skinned one ...he always wants to finish it / sand it etc -himself ....so I won’t spend much more time on it now ...maybe a he or two ... |

No real updates on my track car, i've removed the engine and discovered that i'd chipped most of the top piston rings (I'm assuming they got too hot and potentially detonation hurt them too). I've then rebuilt that engine and i'm in the process of putting that in the daily along with sorting out all the rust in the engine bay. ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |
