The times come to get a new family car for the Mrs. She currently drives a 53 plate 330d Msport. Im looking at Mondeo St tdci in the estate version, also been looking at Saab 9-3 diesels but a bit hesitant given its the vectra engine with all its issue's, obviously the mondeo suffers with injectors too.
Any suggestions would be helpful but nothing rear wheel cheers.

The engine in the ST TDCi mondeo is the 2.2 unit used in the transits. They are far far less problematic than the 115 and 130bhp engines in the rest of the diesel mondeos. Not sure on budget but possibly look at the Mk4 mondeo too.

The 2.0 tdci engine is apparently prone to injector failures around 100k....

Any diesel engine is prone to that these days, they do have a service life! even thd old xud's are meant to be changed at 60k.

That will be the peugeot rhr variant, can't say I have changed many injectors on those engines, bloody good lumps they are.

I used to have a Jag X Type with the 2.2 lump in it. Good unit, and did over 18,000 miles without issue (had about 90k when I bought it and sold it with just over 108k). Apart from tyres and service parts it cost buttons to run, and I only lost £700 when I sold it back in 2014 (bought for £4250 in Jan 2012, sold for £3550 in 2014). If you can get over the "old man" image they are a great car, and have a better spec than the equivalent mk3 Mondeo. SE spec gives you Sat-Nav (IMO looks better than the normal stereo & climate), heated full leather seats among all the other Jag goodies. Only drawback is the rear seats don't fold on the saloon as standard, but you can fit a bike in the back (if you take the wheels off!)

My Mondeo 130 TDCi has got 201k miles on it and had a tuning box on it from 20k miles till 201k miles. It did have an injector and a turbo before 80k miles but since then its been pretty much bulet proof. That was until the cooling fans packed up and the engine cooked itself. Still starts 100% first time even after been sat for months. Needs work to put on the road now but if anyone wants one... its yours!

Oh, I paid a grand for it too, ran it for 4 years! Cheap!

Ive come across an Auris SR 180 for sale in white.
Ive driven one before and they go like stink, a also cant seem to find any real common problems with them which is obviously good but people are throwing some real mixed reviews on MPG, does anyone have of have had any dealings with these motors ?
Its the same lump in the Avensis so you would asume it should be good ?
