Bought in August 2015 as a project for the winter. I have spent at least £1500 on this getting it back to its former glory. It now runs absolutely great. No knocks, rattles or bangs. All running gear was completely refurbished so the suspension is like new. A list of what I have done since I got it; (I have receipts for most of the parts)
- Treated rust and welded a few patches on underside
- Seam sealed and undersealed (from petrol tank back)
- Renewed suspension all round (new rear axle -30mm, new shocks front and back, Eibach -30mm springs, etc)
- Renewed all suspension bushes, top mount, ball joints, and mounts
- New clutch
- New flywheel crank seal and hockey stick seals
- Cleaned out sump while it was off
- Fitted rallye aux kit
- Driveshaft seals
- Refurbished brakes all round (including new seals, disks, hoses and pads)
- Replaced rear wheel bearings
- Replaced rear disc protectors
- Replaced some of the gear linkages
- Replaced/refurbished exhaust heat shields
- Refurbished alloys
- New wheel nuts
- New tyres all round (Uniroyal Rainsport 3)
- Replaced rear arch liners
- Both rear ABS sensors
- Replaced thermostat
- Replaced radiator hoses
- Refurbed sub-frame with new mounts
- New power steering ram
- Replaced all 3 engine mounts
- New 306, GTI and 6 badges on rear and on both doors
- Full service with genuine pug parts
- just had wheel alignment done
Engine runs great (pulls strong, is a non tapper, and gets up to temperature fine and fans work as normal), interior is fine, seats are in good condition (NO RIPS!), all electrics work.
Downsides;
- Slightly leaky exhaust at the manifold - may need a gasket or just sealed
- Paint work is in average condition - there are a few stone chips and small dents. Plus a dodgy repair on the n/s wing - Nothing that can't be sorted. See photos
- Vinyl missing from passenger door
