Mate dont for a second think i was complaining at you, i wasnt, we wouldnt have even started if it wasnt for your advice throughout so thank you...

As it stands it does look like the 220mm datum is probably about 20mm too high but will confirm this evening...

Either way, i now have 6 gears according to the latest update - that said this has now cost me over £600 including labour so it better be good lol Big grin

yeah the drill part was apparently a nightmare - James ended up using a right angled drill and even then struggled with the steering rack clearance - albeit did get there in the end...

In terms of the measurement, will confirm tonight Smile

Right so....

1) Hole location - 200mm n
2) Hole access - James had to remove a bolt from the steering rack
3) Heat - we have lots n lots of heat - (what have people done, other than Day666's heat wrap, to address this - the tunnel gets mega hot!)

I have no heat wrap on my exhaust anywhere and no heat shields. That's on my rally car. I just don't touch the tunnel!

Or in case of any on stage break downs, I keep a egg safe and sound to cook on the tunnel if I'm stuck on the side of the road for a long time!

I don't get it, how can that be if the rod is 170mm from the steering rack bolt, which is lower than the top of the subframe?!

That is an approximation to the centre of the hole...apparently its almost impossible to measure but that is the ball park figure...

Just speaking with James (mechanic) as i'm getting it back tomorrow :-) (Now had full aux kit fitted from a rllye too)

One comment he has made is it does transmit a lot of 'feedback' i.e. vibration

Is this normal? I'm running bakerbm group n mounts all round so its always been pretty jiggly...obv i'll see what i make of it tomorrow as ive yet to drive it, and given the satchshift is solid throughout i guess its probably par for the course but i'd welcome any feedback people have that run them already?

Vibration sorted, needed some adjustment - when the engine kicked under full load (even on Group n mounts) it was touching one of the exhaust bolts...)

I've only driven it for 20mins but bloody hell it is fantastic - such a short throw, although 2nd gear isnt up to a very fast shift, 2nd onwards is lightening quick - from 2nd to 3rd if I change at 7k rpm the revs dont drop below 6k rpm without any snatching at the gear stick - just smooth and fast. Love it Smile

That looks like a whole load of fun.

Random question - what diameter is your steering wheel?

Well Santa delivered me one of these for Christmas Smile I currently don't have the dash or engine in so should be easier for me to drill the hole through the bulkhead although getting it at the right point could be interesting!

I will undoubtedly have more questions as I didn't get a template.
