As title states what is the best uprated cams I can use on the standard engine in my 6? I've searched and found a,to of info especially a old thread started by welshpug which was full of numbers and degrees which basically made my brain fart! So any advice, info, personal experiences, recommendations etc all welcomedCheers Dave |

Catcams 3107 will work on standard internals I believe. PT81s can if you're feeling brave and your head hasn't been skimmed!________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

Mild enough to make it not really worth the cost, basically.________________________________________ 61k miles Ph.1 Diablo '6 Project Thread |

Buying uprated cams plus a remap for many hundreds of pounds for 10bhp all at the top of the rev range isn't really worth it.You can only go slightly more lairy before hitting a piston so unless you are willing to spend even more and have cutouts machined, it isn't worth spending quite a lot of money for little gain in my opinion. ________________________________________ 61k miles Ph.1 Diablo '6 Project Thread |

Ok fella appreciate your input. I assume you would advocate for a LB charger set up yes? |

It's only £100 to get the pistons pocketed which isn't a huge amount, gives you a little more space for lift________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

If I did that what sort of gains could I expect from cams and a remap? Is 10bhp all I could hope for? I'm more about torque than bhp tbh |

I'd have thought that higher lift and longer duration would lose you low down torque at the expense of higher peak torque and peak power? So for a track car good gains but a road car maybe worth a rethink. ________________________________________ 61k miles Ph.1 Diablo '6 Project Thread |

All gains are pretty expensive though. ITBs will either give good gains and be similarly expensive (very roughly) or even better gains but with the added expense of lairier cams and pocketed pistons. ________________________________________ 61k miles Ph.1 Diablo '6 Project Thread |

Agree with retropug, the money if will cost to put them in a standard engine just isn't worth it for the little gain.Although it's only 100 to have pistons pocketed it'll still cost you more as you'll be taking the head off or crank out to remove them which is either a gasket set or set of main bearings and big end bearings whichever way you do it and that's assuming you are capable of doing that work yourself or obviously going to cost more on top. Lbsc is definitely the way to go money to power wise especially with the prices second hand kits go for. If you want torque buy the v6 conversion in the whats it worth section, again power for money I don't think they can be beaten really. ________________________________________ Ryan |

I.e is pt81 the limit still? i have a spare engine in bits which im tempted to get the pistons done and build it up or is it really not worth it. |

cutouts just allow the pt81 to be timed properly and safely.________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

PT81s are a good bet if you have cutouts and fairly available. I think WP runs Newman PH2s on cutouts as well?________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

What sort of power gains could I expect to see from a set of the pt81s? |

Just read on another post on here that it might be an idea to pocket the pistons a fair bit and fit pt81s? Anyone had this before? |

I run Pt81's and pocketed pistons as do a few others, the reason is simple.... If you time pt81's up correctly in a otherwise standard engine its likely there'll be some sort of contact. They can be fitted yes but to time them up correctly you really need enlarged pockets. ________________________________________ Team Running Engine again!Team Negative Camber! Jeffers do you feel the pt81's were a good investment/improvement i.e i guess the overall pub figures are nothing to write home about but do they feel much of a improvement on the road/track |

I guess the engine feels more responsive from what I can tell but like I say I've not really used it in anger to comment, I'm hoping to have it out next month if that helps?! ________________________________________ Team Running Engine again!Team Negative Camber! yeah would be interesting to see as the figures are never going to sound amazing but its real world performance well more track performance thats intriguing |

It's looking like pocket pistons and pt81s may be the way forward? |

Yea my thinking is pick up a known good engine and then strip at my leisure, get the pistons sorted and build it up as and when I have the time and funds |
