After weeks of asking around local garages ive yet to find anyone willing to take on the v6 conversion so it looks like I'm going to have to do it myself So here she is in her new home hopefully just for a couple of months, there's bound to be a lot of stupid questions to follow has I have no idea on how this one even comes apart let alone how the v6 goes in ________________________________________ Old pugs don't die they just get faster |

Right spent the morning on it taking it apart hit a few snags There's a fair bit of rust hidden behind the bumber Does anyone know if peugeot still make these power steering pipes has this has rotten though and is leaking ? First of many holes I'm bound to find How ive left it for today anyone got any picture of what the bolts look like holding in the driveshafts I've been underneath it but can't find anything thats mentioned in the FAQ Thanks Chris ________________________________________ Old pugs don't die they just get faster |

That power steering pipe is a cooling section. You can do away with it or replace. If you decide to replace - try and get one off a Xsara VTS. They have a large under bumper tray and are often in better condition than those on a 306.Driveshaft wise - you have discovered the 'hockey stick' shaped bolts. You need to loosen the nut on each most of the way and then spin so the hockey stick end no longer holds the shaft in. When you have spun them so the ends are facing outwards opposed to in, the shaft can be pulled from the gearbox. If you find it doesn't pull free with a gentle wiggle, then ensure you have them lined up correctly. Once you are happy that they are lined up correctly, use a drift (ball joint splitter ensures an equal force) and punch the intermediate bearing from the mounting on the block. They can sometimes seize in the mount. If you don't do this, and instead just pull on the shaft, you'll pull it in two parts which isn't ideal. ________________________________________ |

Driveshaft nuts are 35mm - but a 36mm socket works absolutely fine if that's all you can get access to (Halfords for example).________________________________________ |

It's a 1.6 on the log book but not sure never drove it saved it from the scrap yard 5 yrs ago had it MOT ed then had it stripped and resprayed by a garage that went bankrupt so its sat in my lock up ever since well i look for part to put it back together shame really, it's just so hard to get early plastics now for them unless your willing to spend mega money ________________________________________ Old pugs don't die they just get faster |

That engine has got to come out that 205 so a gti6 might be a good replacement it's all covered in overspray and its a 1.6 ________________________________________ Old pugs don't die they just get faster |
