Ok so had a good look last night. Locating pins are in for sure but the pads do overlap the in we edge of the disc and actually have an inner lip!

What pads to people recommend for track and fast road use?

yellows shouldnt be that bad, they do need heat but glaze over easily if you trail brake too much, give the pads a good scrub down to fresh material and bed them in again.

otherwise on the road a bog standard pad will suffice when you have that much leverage and clamping force

This is absolutely a track car so want the best for that scenario, sounds like new discs and scrub up the pads?

One final thing, (apologies i feel like a spammer...) should this kit work with my ABS?

I have no lights on the dash, that said regardless how hard i brake the ABS never triggers...

Thanks, you are a useful chap!

I have a mate @ Euro Car Parts and he's recommending EBC discs or Brembo's - i want them for track use, what do people get on with well?

Im going for Ferodo pads...

Hi all,

Ok i'm slowly loosing the will with regards to all things brake related.

I've ordered Ferodo DS2500's but discs are proving more awkward - my car is running 307 discs, 302mmx26mm, its a track day car but will be used on the road now and again too SO, which discs would you go for?

These are my options:

1) Black Diamond Grooved/Drilled (Apparently not great)
2) EBC Drilled/Grooved (Apparently crap)
3) Tarox Grooved (Good but £245 a pair)
4) BDA (Good but £260 a pair)
5) Pagid OE (£70 a pair)
6) Hi-Spec's own Grooved disc (£80 each, apparently from EBC)

Hi-Spec will also Groove any standard OE disc for £25 per disc as a further option...

Thats it, i have no chuffing idea what the best route is, i'd appreciate any guidance!

Cheers

Chris

For track and fast Road do you want cheap discs though? Brakes and tyres are the main thing you need, don't skimp on them

Only cheap ones I've trusted are the brembos.

Don't get drilled and grooved they are prone to cracking

Yes I've read that about drilled too, welsh pug. Do you honestly believe that? I've suffered from buying very cheap discs that have worn incredibly quickly and/or warped?!

I know a lot comes down to bedding in and cooling etc but even still i want the optimum performance for the money...

never had that, you're wayyy over braked anyway so can't see the problem.

Rather be over braked than under! I'm using 330mm, but only as I had brembo's anyway and the bells and rotors were so cheap that I couldn't turn them down, it was cheaper than buying another set of G88's

Yeah I did indeed, think it was £120 quid for the bells, rotors and brackets delivered! Nice bit of meat left on the rotors aswell
