Hi guys

I'm new here but have bought a gti6 withy the above brakes

Frankly they're crap, I mean really poor - currently have yellow stuff pads and grooved discs. (The latter look pretty knackered)

Can anyone tell me what discs I should use? Prev owner said he thought they were c4/307gt discs but wasn't 100%?

Also, if these brakes have been fitted does that deactivate the abs?!

Cheers

Chris

only you, or the original purchaser can tell us that. wheel off and measure the diameter and height.

Hi gents, just measured the brakes, can i check what you mean by height?

As far as i can tell they are 305mm and 25mm thick (diameter is awkward as the centre nut protrudes but im pretty sure thats accurate)

Does that ring true with any common disc sizes people use?

Cheers

What's the overall height on the disc?

Check out brake parts. Co. UK.

Damn autocorrect

so assuming my understanding is correct and the height is the distance from the face of the surface the wheel mates with to the centre of the disc itself, then this is around 27mm (they're very corroded)

The centre of the disc is recessed, i.e. imagine it like a top hat, the surface of the disc facing outwards is outboard of the bit that joins the disc to the hub (i'm so technical lol)

looks like 406 coupe discs, would be 305x28 and zero offset nearly.

I'm using standard 283mm discs so not the same as yours. Have the pads got the locating pins through the top of them? Just look like they aren't in properly but could just be different pads which also fit.

well looking at this: http://c4owners.org/plugins/content/content.php?content.16

I think the previous owner might be right, looks very similar to the C4 VTR/VTS brake disc...

Check out the details compared to what your discs are, failing that take one disc to an auto spares shop and compare.

See if you can borrow a digital caliper to ensure measurements are correct

many discs will appear similar, measure them as accurately as possible, not forgetting to take into account wear and corrosion buildup.
