Hello I'm after a bit of advice/ confirmation on my set up as to whether it's the right thing to do or whether it would work or any advice that could help. My current setup is pug sport tb's 25mm, 30mm anti roll bar, negative camber for the rear. The front has cheap coilovers with 400lb springs and negative camber. Obviously the front coilovers are my downfall so I think it's time to upgrade. Unfortunately I don't own a bank and it is just a track day car at the moment.
So I was thinking kw v2's with 250(ish)lb helper springs and 450lb main springs. Would they work? Would they be too much for the coilovers? Any help/ discussion would be appreciated.

I have been looking at getting 25.5's and I was told that you need to look closer to 600lb. 450lb is suited to around 23.5mm from what I've been told.

I would go for something better than a V2 if you go that high, not sure if they can cope with dampening that lb spring.

What shocks you using on the rear?

I have spax with adjustable damping. I know my setup isn't ideal, just trying to get it as best as possible within budget, I also don't mind waiting for a decent set of second hand coilovers that will suit my setup. What coilovers would be a better match? Cheers

Gaz Gold, 450lb springs and 23.5mm TBs is what we have on the race car and it works great, handling and grip are awesome. I wouldn't bother getting any more than that if you use the car on the road as it's already very stiff and is plenty fast enough.

Na it's road legal but a track only car and the tb's are already on. There not too bad on the road when I turn the rear dampers down. Horrendous when there on stiff! I think the rear is pretty good, it's just the front that's slacking badly!

not sure if anyone on here has run golds and v2s to give a comparison. I know from experience golds are ok with the higher spring rates you're looking at, I've read on here that kw's aren't so suited to them.

I think 450s would be fine with 25mm bars, 600lb would be too much IMO.

I know Denis (Russian guy) has run golds, and I'm fairly confident he has used v2's, maybe worth a pm to ask??

450lb springs are a good match to 25mm torsion bars. I would expect that KW V2 will have to be re-valved to work with 450lb springs (standard KWs are 340lb ).

I actually have not been in a car with KWs or GAZ Gold (GGA). Have used GAZ GHA coilovers and would not put them on my car even if they were free - some major issues.

I ran KW V2's on my track car with 23.5mm TB and 30mm ARB for a long time, inc doing an 8:28 around the Nurburgring. I changed them to GAZ golds and wasn't that impressed in all honesty. They were still a good shock but felt too soft for track work, and the corrosion on the bodies after 6 months was horrendous. I personally wouldn't run 25mm torsion bars at all, 23.5mm were as stiff as I'd want but run a 30mm ARB with them.

For just track days (for now) I think I'll go with the v2's with 450lb springs. Is it worth getting 250lb helper springs? Is there many places that can re-valve the kw's if I can get hold of a set?
