Hi guys, been a while. Just a quick update, car went to my mates place for paint work - and they totally fooked it up !! not happy at all with it, over spray, poor finish etc etc so thats going back to be rectified. In fairness, it wasn't my mate that did the work it was one of his lads, but even so it shouldn't have come back to me looking like it does - so a bit gutted at the moment. She's currently at my other mates place having welding done 'in the usual place' lol, i have a few pics which i'll load up in a bit.

Hi guys, been a time since last update, and to be honest not a lot has happened. All the welding has been done to a high standard and i'm very pleased with the result. Sorned the car the end of December and just been collecting parts and bits and pieces towards the resto. The good news is that the Rallye is now in my mates garage, we've spent the last 3 days stripping it down in preparation for the paintwork to be rectified next month. Went out yesterday and got myself a grit blaster gun from Machine Mart (£20!) thought while bumpers are off and front end exposed it'd be the ideal time to blast underneath both front wings and accross the front panel and chasis legs and basically address any rust issues, then rust cure, prime and paint - so we'll be doing that Saturday. It's been a time, but things are starting to really kick into gear now!! Oh and the best thing of all, MY REV COUNTER WORKS!!!! Shock It did turn out to be a broken red wire on the nearside plug at the front of the engine bay - so for those of you who said it may be this, you were spot on. I'll put up some picks sometime soon.

Thanks for reading. Thumbs up

Well - what can i say! 10 fookin months i've been p155ed about with my 'mate' sorting out the paint work!! Do you know what, so much hassle and 5hite has gone on that i really can't be arsed to go through it all. Basically he had the car back - TWICE!! - to sort out the absolutely shocking job they did and it's still
5hite. So bringing the story bang up to date, over the last couple of months i've been in talks with with Carl Chambers (very nice chap) and yesterday took TRE down to his place. (we had to wait for a space in his workshop lol) We went through what i want doing, and he's going to sort it for me. I've decided just to bite the bullet and get everything done on the car, now i have the China HDI to play with, i'm not that desperate to get the Rallye on the road so may as well take my time and get it done properly. Once he has the engine and box out, i'll go back to pick it up, bring back here and strip it down, renewing, painting, soda blasting and powder coating as we go along. Oh and i suppose eventually I'll have to get the whole car painted - PROPERLY!

cheers

Sorry to hear you've had so much hassle with it. It will all be worth it when you get it back!

You planning on pugfest this year?

Hi guys, a few more months gone by! Just a quick update. As you know (or maybe you don't) the Rallye is now at Carl's place and has had some serious work done to it - big thanks to Mr.Chambers for that. There's a hell of a lot that is going to be going on in the next few months, but for now, Carl will be posting a few pics up of my Rallye as she stands now. Massive thanks again Carl.

Thanks for the comments guys, all work you see here was/is being done by Carl. So, where to begin? The engine is away at the engine builders as we speak having a bit of a freshen up, new rings, shells, hydraulic lifters, 3 way valve grind/cut, new cambelt kit, water pump etc. All the brackets have been taken off the engine and have been powder coated black, gearbox, head, cam carriers, sump and a few other bits and pieces have been soda blasted. New alternator, recon power steering pump, 4 brand new oe Beru coils, cam covers powder coated, inlet manifold podwer coated - with a nice little RALLYE badge on, looks the dogs to be honest, there's one of Ryans (PUG_306) heat shields to go in. I've also had new drive shafts and seals, a brand new Rich W flywheel, new clutch and cable, new Nissans rad, new Pug top and bottom radiator hoses, a vts MK1 rack (thanks to Ryan again) which will sit on a black powder coated subframe. Also stripped and powder coated top and bottom strut braces. The slam panel has been blasted and painted gloss black. Then under the arches will be Bilstein shocks, just standard replacements nothing trickey, with new coil springs, Febi drop links, lower arms, new anti roll bar bushes, fully rebuilt standard calipers with drilled and grooved discs, standard pads, being fed fluid courtesy of a full set of BF Goodridge hoses. Oh and while Carl has the car, i've asked him to put me in a new heater matrix, makes sense whilst the car is semi stripped and it's probably the original unit so could do with being changed. Probably missed some bits and pieces but as you can see there's been a fair bit to sort. I would have never got this far on my own, especially as my mate with the garage has packed up and moved to Wales - selfish git! so i must say again a massive thanks to Carl. Think i'm done now, sorry to have bored you to death

takes two seconds to remove the brake pipe and fuel line clips, bumper side sliders, washer pipes etc, the subframe mountings, bit slack there just painting over everything.

Just a small update really, engine has been done and collected from engine builders yesterday afternoon. Had a nice little 300 mile round trip today to drop it off at Carls - along with a ton of other bits - apparently he'd just had a clean and tidy up and got rid of some junk then i showed up and refilled his garage Big grin

cheers
