As this is the place to find out about rallyes and gti6s then would it be possible for the club to set a sale price. Because who actually sets the price of cars rallyes are becoming increasingly rare and should then in fact receive a greater sale price if rallye owners came together and started setting there prices higher then surely the rallye which is so brilliant would start making better money I just can't believe for a car that is as good as some of the more recent cars and better raises such a low price is well just crap please let this be the start of higher priced rallyes..... I'm not actually selling mine but I'd just like it to be appreciated a little more |

You can't fix the price of a car mate, the market does that for you. When these cars start to become really rare and they get noticed by a greater proportion of the population then we may start to see a rise in prices It probably needs to hit the nostalgic note too which they arguably won't in the same way as the then aspirational 205. This club/forum still represents a small minority of people who actually own these machines, though being an active user on here can sometimes brainwash you into thinking otherwise. Hang on to it for a few years and it may start going up, though if you want to make money out of cars then the 306 Rallye may not be the best way to invest your cash. ________________________________________ Almost standard 1999 Bianca RallyeHilux InvincibleX daily 306 No.13 Carp and specialist Anglers Click here |

Are you suggesting that we form a rallye cartel? ________________________________________ 61k miles Ph.1 Diablo '6 Project Thread |

Tempting logic - "if bankers and big business can fix prices why can't we" - but there is so much choice in cars that it isn't possible. I'm not going to be selling mine anyway. I'm one of those who believes the Rallye offers an outstanding and hugely characterful driving experience. The Rallye is currently very undervalued for what it delivers, and is not expensive to run for the performance offered, and that is based on having driven a lot of different cars. But I do understand that not everyone thinks this way - e.g. a lot of people think that a current shape Corsa sporty VX-something is a great looking and fun driving (especially with a couple of racing stripes on it) while I just think they are an awful little car and the looks would improve after being kicked a few times and if I was spending £18K on a car it wouldn't be one of those. I think prices for the good Rallyes will go up as there are people out there who appreciate them, especially the slightly older people with a bit of disposable income who remember them when new but couldn't/didn't buy one at the time. These people will want to buy them in good nick and understand that getting the best possible condition car up front will save lots of money down the line, so are prepared to spend an extra £500 - £1000 to save many times that in not having to do stuff neglected by previous owners. And remember once upon a time Mk2 Escorts were 10 a penny, now tatty mundane models go for big money. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

A car is only worth what some one is willing to pay, if every one valued their rallye at 5k how many people would buy them? Not many i would imagine |

I can't ever see the market for these going up again, they are just going to fade into obscurity. Most people I know hadn't even heard of a 306 Rallye until I mention it to them as there were so few made. The GTi's aren't that common either, I know two people (outside this forum) that have ever owned one. There might be the odd one that is in great nick with low owners and milage that might go for a bit more in a few years. If I didn't already have a 306 and was looking to buy a cheap hot hatch I would go for the Clio 172/182 and I think that's what a lot of people have done... ________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected!
