Have you got the shocks mixed up left/right etc as the small locator tabs are offset to each other depending if they are the left or right one. IIRC they should face slightly towards the front of the car...i could be completely wrong sorry but im sure if the tabs arnt in it dosnt sit right.

Its more a case of the shock not sitting far enough into the hub so you would have the same issue regardless of which way around they are.
The only cure for this really is for Bilstein to replace them with correct length shocks!

I get what you mean but if you dont have them located in the slots the shock will not drop down into the hub /clamp as the tabs are offset to each side to enable the droplink to be attached correctly.

If they are incorrect lenght shocks then that is bad drills by themNo

Trust us, its is 100% Bilstein at fault here. The tabs are located correctly

I'm not sure how to go about sorting this.Bilstein I'm sure will wash their hands of it and say they're fit for purpose, as far as I'm concerned I don't see why people would recommend them, they raise the car and don't sit properly In the hub.

Bad Bad drills by them. Easy way is to just get an old OE shock next to the Bilstein and show they have a supply/manufacturing problem somewhere. If the demensions are out, a side by side comparison etc will do the trick for them to pay attention. They have sold something that is not fit for purpose and or advertised incorrectlyNo .

Hope you get it sortedWink

must be the recent ones as the ones I got a few years back are sound, surely they can't just wash there hands of it if there's so many at fault, how can they get away with this?
Has anybody actually been down and seen them face to face about this, it's fat to easy for them to send an e mail rather than face an angry frustrates customer?

So between the tab and the bottom of the damper you only have 30mm?

On your damper the below measurement is 30mm?

Or 35mm as the hubs I've got measure around 50mm

I've read on here that b8s are a shorter body, this may account for different ride heights. I'm honestly not sure how true this is though.

looks like 45mm from where the tab seats on the top edge, and yeah the hubs I have are 50mm or thereabouts.

that nose sits in the gap of the clamp.

The issue is not with ride height. The body length is shorter so Bilstein advertise.
The issue is they have either welded the locating tab on too low meaning that the shock does not sit fully in the hub and the car sits higher than intended or the shock just isn't long enough and the car should sit at the height it does now (dictated by the taCool but just isn't long enough to sit all the way into the hub.

The picture allen has used is mine which was taken about 12 months ago. If someone can get a picture of a standard shock with measurements like mine, i can send them to Bilstein with a link to this thread and see if i can get a reply from them.

Bugger, i think i threw my old standard dampers away the other month or i could have got said required picture. Doh

The front end of my daily is very monster truck-esque, it's on the oe bilsteins (b4?) but they have been on for a good 5+ years now, used new genuine pug springs at the time too.

Do you have a close up picture of your front end(oo err) prism7guy?Just so I can see how it sits compared to mine.

I have a set of standard struts sat around at my family home in Blackpool, I'll call my Dad and get him to measure them but it could be the end of the week.

Ny car has settled further that I expected it to over the last few days but it is still stupidly high.

The oem will measure 45mm like the one pictured.
    What does your b4 measure?

Yes but the problem here is that these b4s apparently measure 30mm not 45mm!

Got some spax and avos here, both measure 50mm. I think 45mm is adequate really, 30 isn't though, not sure why no ones measured one yet?

Ok folks, I've spoken with KAM racing and theyre happy to take this to Bilstein for us which might give us a bit more of a shot of seeing whats gone on.He wants me to send over any pictures or measurements by email so if anyone who has measurement pictures, pictures of the car riding at a different height after fitment etc etc could post them all here then I will collate them when I've finished work and send them all over to him.

Measured the AP coilovers I have sat around at the minute earlier and they have 50mm between the bottom of the shock and the stop they sit against..... Looked at my mates Spax adjustable dampers and they have at least that if not quite a bit more. I will measure the OMP adjustable shocks I've just taken off but I think their at least 50mm so Bilstein f**ked up somewhere as 30mm isn't even close to being enough in the hub to grip properly.....

Also the drop link attachment bracket hours be slightly towards the rear of the car on each side to line up with the ARB below. Can't get either of mine wrong really as the part numbers end in R and L lol
