It will run without TPS but I think it will be pretty slow as it'll be running lean a fair bit. Definitely not ideal for anything other than testing it.

Ok it was getting dark so I had a quick play it seems to have stoped misfiring im wondering if the k and n sat behind the rad is getting to wet causing it to misfire has it's been very wet here , my fuel pump keeps priming its self after the cars parked up keys out the ignition every thing just primes its self 3 or 4 times is this normal ?

Not sure if that is causing it but an exposed cone down there on oxfordshire's wet country roads etc. is asking for trouble really.
Consider an enclosed filter? I've also got a K&N but it is semi-shrouded from the sides and beneath but I'm fitting a BMC enclosed one soon.

How are you planning on fitting it i looked at doing it but the only way i saw possible was to move the battery to the boot unless you wanted to run the intake down by the fogs,

I'm going to fit it where the original airbox was on the end of the original pipe that goes to the throttle body. I'll use a bracket to fix it to one of the original airbox mounting holes rather than the gearbox as this'll get it in the same place as original. Then a silicone 180 bend or two 90 bends depending on where it sits etc. from the bottom to the OEM snorkel. Also don't want a fog-light inlet.
I'm going to trial fit it at the weekend and see if it works like this but I don't see why it shouldn't really, then if it's all good buy the hoses.

Was going to borrow a mate's axle stands and jack as mine are elsewhere and test fit it, however if you want to trial fit it like this together to have a look as well that'd be cool too.

I think I'm going to whack a standard air box on it with a k n filter in it , i really want to fit bodies so it will only be temporary. Be good to see how you do it

The standard airbox is actually really good it's just an arse to remove and always breaks the mounting studs. Works great with a K&N had one of those as well.

Right that why I put a k n on the xsi in the first place cause the bracket broke off , i probaly couldn't fit a standard one now, I'll have to wait and see what your bmc project turns out like , do you know if that fuel pump priming its selfs normall , does yours do it ?

The studs always snap off of the standard airbox but you can buy the studs individually and spot weld them back on (I think). The mounting holes will still be there for the standard airbox but finding an airbox that isn't broken is the hard part.

When you turn the key to the second increment, before turning the engine on, you should hear the fuel pump priming for a second or two. All three '6s I've had have made another, similar noise if left standing and locked for a little while, just once but I don't actually know what it is or much about the fuel pump at all really.

I can't remember, but have you ever replaced the fuel filter and spark plugs?

It's driving a lot better now takes a bit to start but now idles since it's been dryer it's not misfiring while driving just the hesitation rough de acceleration to sort now , in all fairness if i can get it to run better just so I can use it for a couple of months once ive come back from traveling ill either break it or chuck another engine in it . It's just not drivable at the moment

I've got a spare complete engine (with failed head gasket) if you want to borrow any sensors or parts to help work out what the problem is. Don't think you are that far from me.

No, the immobiliser being activated would mean the engine wouldn't fire at all.

Very much doubt it is the ECU.
You said the filter keeps getting wet...is it all clogged up with s**t perhaps?

Does anyone have experience of running different cams without a remap? Could this cause issues?

It's seems to be intermittent thats what makes me say its got to be a sensor or loom issues

I was having problems with slight bogging down under acceleration and very low throttle and removing the shroud I had around my cone filter cured it, as it was choking it a bit...could be that yours is being restricted by being clogged up with stuff if it got all wet and muddy.

Now running an exposed cone but with a big shield around it that stops water getting to it and directs the snorkel at it.

Checked the filter isn't totally blocked?
As above a restricted filter caused flat spots and poor response.

Hoping to have gotten something by then (whenever that is?) but if you do break let me know.
It's a shame as when these cars are well-sorted they are great.
