Good luck mate can't fault your work effort in any way , you might be cutting it fine tho with the mapping as your bound to have some teething problems looking at the state of your engine at tho mo

Next update. Got quite a bit more done today. Keep things short as I cant be arsed to write step by step info again LOL

Jim finished off all the wiring and tidied it all up while I cut the slam panel to bits so we could fabricate a something new. Cut some new end plates and had weld it all up, I ground the welds down to tidy it up then we welded a straight bar in place to strengthen it back up. Welded 2 brackets on for the rad and 1 in the middle for the grill.
Next job was to fit the 205 cooling system. A lot of hunting about to find pipes to fit ect. I made up a new bracket for the header tank too. A lot of fiddling about today but not too far away now. Will be back down tomorrow afternoon to hopefully finish it off ready for mapping monday. Didnt get many pics today but will get plenty more tomorrow.

Yes its off a 406, tried finding pics of the old touring car engine bays and cant seem to find any then came accross this while watching touring car legends at the start of this years BTCC season.
Work shop isnt too bad now, swept it out yesterday. Its with the road outside being gravel and all the dust blowing in the door.

think im going to cancel mapping for tomorrow and run the cooling system for a week just to make sure its all ok. Dont want the car over heating during mapping and f**king the engine. Going to see if the vlr will run on the mapped gti6 ecu too. I have the map sensor in the vlr, and all other sensors still in the TB for the time being so will just see what happens today.

Had a late start and late finish today. Didnt get into the workshop till after 4pm. Jim finished the wiring while I made up a blanking plate for the throttle body and modified my bumper ect... next job was to test everything. Cooling switch tested and kicks in at 97oC, fan rewired and works fine. Then we tested fuel pump and pressure what were fine. Bit the fuel rail we modified had a few holes where fuel was getting out. Back off for abit welding then tested. Still no better. This went on for about 45 minutes, each time getting worse. In the end we gave up and luckily found another one what was perfect. No leaks.
Then we tested for a spark. Nothing! Bit fiddling about and still nothing!! So left that and tested the injectors. Nothing again. Ran a few tests and found there was a wrong relay supplied with the ecu so jim knocked his own up. Tested spark and injectors again and both were working fine Big grin

10.15pm 18th May. Now will it fire... yes Thumbs up ITS ALIVE! Sounds f**king mental. Only problem is we have no idle so have to keep the revs up to stop it cutting out. Oil pressure was between 5-6psi. Air/fuel was between 13-15.5 depending on revs with fuel pressure set at 4.5bar. This was set at this due to the injectors being further away than standard also helped idle a little. Mapping should sort idle and dave will sort fuel pressure at the same time.
Few little things to sort in tge morning like a small leak from the rad, air leak in the inlet and the rev counter isnt working but other than that we should be good to go. Heres a quick video Cool

Bore is 45mm. Had a couple more issues this morning with air leaks in the inlet. Made a bracket for my coilpack to sit on, blead the coolant and front end on. Thats it ready for mapping. Abit later than I was hoping but Dave says its fine, bring it along. Next update will be weather mapping went well or weather there are more issues... soon find out.
