I would like to hear to some GTI6 brag stories, what made you really want a 6, whats has been some of your best or worst moments, what do you hate most about it etc etc. For many years I have been a PUG fanatic but saying that I've only ever taking interest in the 205 and 306.

It all started when a friend thought me how to drive in a cul de sac I was only 16 within hours I took the car out onto the public roads, the horror on most peoples faces as we fled up and down zigzagging around Fulham Broadway was show worthy also jail worthy but hey, after 10 or so minutes I got the hang of it and the starers had become void yeeee hah...

After we or I had crippled the Renault five in all of 3 days, I decided an upgrade was needed both my mates had Golf GTI's, so hey I have to get a GTI right, so as you do I started goggling the cars driving along the main road nothing caught my eye until along came a miami blue 1.9 205, I was stunned like I had just seen a Ferrari giving it the beans and I'm 14, the body kit, the stripes, the pepper pots, the lettering along the side petrol filler, the shape, the lion

My adventures in a 306 started in 2000, I went to view a 106 gti and ended up buying an ex demonstrator Rallye, all downhill from there.
Always had pugs, got my first 205 gti in '94 when I was 20, I must have been mad as hot hatch insurance was nuts back then.

I used to own a 205 GTI. A mate and I were heading across to North Wales, for a spot of mountainbiking and a p**s up with a few others at the Grapes at Blaenau. The back seats were down and we had packed the hatch to the roof with bikes and stuff. We got to Betws at dusk and topped the tank up with the good stuff. This was before the road from Betws to Blaunau was widened by dynamiting the cliffs, so was looking forward to giving my mate a twisty hell ride into the mountains We got to the turn off to Blaunau, to see a diablo red 6 take the same junction. The guy in the 6 dropped the hammer and I spent the next 15 odd minutes trying my best to stay with him, using everything the little pug had. As we got to the big climb up to kyber pass, the 6 pulled away from us and disappeared up the mountain. We got to the pub and my mate rolled a joint to calm us down and I decided I wanted a 6

My best moment in a 6 was...

I was driving along the A13 london bound one friday night a few years ago. I was in the fast lane behind a mondeo or similar, he then pulled over to the middle lane.

To my amazement i saw some kind of supercar / kit car that i had never seen before so i started slowly to catch up just to have a gander and work out what the hell it was.

Anyways not really paying attention and still trying to catch up to see what it was, i realise we are doing over a ton.

So i keeps going and going and going. Before i know it i am off the clock and the supercar / kit car pulls into the middle lane and lets me get up beside him.

He smiles and gives me a wave and before i knew it, GONE. I could not belive what happened. I was flat out in the 6 and he pulled away like a ariel atom off the line.

Anyways he let me catch up again and get a quick picture with him putting his thumb up. He then proceeded to f**k off very quickly which i managed to film while still off the clock.

Gob smacked i set out finding what the hell it was. After 2 months i finally found out what it was...................................................................................................














A 250mph monster. No wonder the thing f**ked off.
Think he was just impressed a old 306 was doing over a ton

Anyways this was 7 years or so ago and the phone got lost so i have no picture proof.
In one way it makes it more special to me as a memory but in another way i really wish i had the pics and video showing my 6 off the clock and that ultima taking off.

***Breaking*** Ph3 Silver GTI 6 High Boost

couple of years ago. me and my best mate were heading to his an randomly decided to take the by pass in the 6. as the road curved round to the left round about to join on to the by pass. we see a white caged 106gti tearing straight across the round about from right to left with a slammed blue mx5 trying to give chase. I dropped a cog in to 2nd an screamed the 6 on to the round about joining the chase. overtaking the mx5 on the outside as I join hitting 3rd. im past the mx5 without even trying. I see the 106 less then a 100meters away an as I roll the cogs on I reel him in. im flat in 5th an gently rolling by the 106gti he looks over and I hit 6th an just pull away like a train. they didn't stand a chance. never want to get rid of the 6

I got done by a 4 door Astra the other week... Well, I say done, he wasn't pulling away but neither was I gaining, and mine was cammed. Obviously when we got to the speed limit I came off the gas

Fact is, the 6 engine just isn't that torquey low down, most boring dervs have as much torque as an XU10J4RS if not more, just not as much BWAAAAP at top end and by the time you hit the real power the Derv is off. My vectra is running just under 200bhp and 275lb/ft of Torque and was easily quicker than the 6. Returns nearly 60mpg on a run too (yawn)

However... If you want cornering, 7250rpm, awesome induction noise, old skool cool and a flat empty wallet theres nothing to beat it

I've had 8 306's now, got my first one when I was 19. I had a white Corsa at the time and my mate had a phase 1 1.4 XL. I had always liked the look of the 306 so we sawpped cars, it started there really Got my first phase 3 which was a moonstone HDi in 2006, paid 4 grand for it which to me at 21 was a fortune! I remember being really chuffed that my insurance was only 900 quid too. I went travelling after that and whilst in a youth Hostel in Melbourne one very early morning (a bit canned up) I discovered 306gti6.com The rest, as they say, is history. When I got back from travelling all I wanted to do was own one of these, I nearly bought a black one that was Rude Boi's car (anyone remember him?) Then I manned up and decided I wanted some Gaystone back in my life. I found one and drove it all the way home from Bournemouth to Sheffield. Been skint ever since

My adventures in the 6 mainly involved wasting a lot of fuel going the very long way home nearly every night, emptying my bank balannce ten times over on 'improvements' that it didn't really need. Obsessing over every squeek, niggle and worrying drip of oil when I should have just been enjoying the thing.

Regrets? That Ive owned three now and never been on a track in one.

I always used to hate them when i had a 106. Thought the 106 was a much better car than the 306 and then my mate bought a 306 meridian as a run about and as soon as i got in it, my opinion was changed. Much better than the 106, handling was great even in meridian spec and it went well. So i bought one! a 1.8XS which i had some great fun in and tbh, wish i still had but it rotted away so had to be scrapped. Day i decided the fate of it, i looked on auto trader and found the 6 i have now 2 roads away from me that had just been stuck up. This was 9am and by 6pm that evening, i had gone to the bank, got the money and was driving about in it!
I always have thoughts about getting rid seeing as i don't need it but every time i see it on my drive and the amount of time and effort i have put into it, i just can't. It handles like its on rails, goes fairly well and sounds great and i met so many good friends though these forums so it sort of means something to me in that respect.
Until pugfest, I had never been on a track (if you can call prescott that really) and after 1 run, i bloody loved it so decided the car is staying for now and being charged ready for show/track season next year.

my first car was a phase 1.4 306, stripped it out made it as fast as a 1.4 peice of turd could be and i loved it.

then i got old enough to be able to afford insurance on a 6...and i realised what people said by if you want to make yoru car faster just start with a bigger engined faster car.

Had 2 6's now and TBH I think I prefer my HDI.

There is a real sense of occasion when attempting an overtaking manouvre that you just don't get with a GTI 6

I can remember my dad having a brand new d turbo for a week from work when they very very first came out, it felt rapid, seemed to pin me back in the seat really well, I always rememberd that and that's what made me want a 306, thing is I think they only had 90bhp when they first came out so f**k knows why it felt like an animal, maybe it was as I was very young, anyway when I eventuallygot old enough to drive and passed I got a dturbo s, rolled it after 9 months and nearly killed myself , I then got a 5 door xrdt, then the 6 I have now.

it was the torque that made it feels so quick, plus my dad always drove like a fairy until he got that, I wasn't used to been pinned back, I liked it

are you sure? my HDI wipes the floor with my GTi6 in every scenario. i've got GTi6 badges on it too at the moment and with the leather interior nobody knows whatsoever
