I'd suggest doing the bottom end and crank bearings too, just cos there easy to get to and you'll be running more power through potentially worn items.

Don't forget the little 'hockey stick' seals in the number one end cap How many miles has the lump done? If it was mine I would be dropping crank out, getting it inspected and at the minimum fitting new standard sized shells after the crank being polished And for peace of mind I would bang a set of ARP rod bolts in And stripping and checking the oil pump ________________________________________ Red GTB1756 powered Fabia VRS daily driver,LBSC Gti6 eater........Mac1 ZR R1 kit car build in progress. |

All of the above is right but there have been a few low boost and lightened flywheel issues.I have both boost and the lightened flywheel and i get stalling and occasional running issues which we think is down to the map. When the ecu's are mapped, they don't factor in a lightened flywheel. ( correct me if i am wrong ) You would have to confirm with rich tbh. While the engine is out, put a new headgasket on it to, can't hurt. ________________________________________ ***Breaking*** Ph3 Silver GTI 6 High Boost |

As others have said it would be worth doing the shells and good shout on the oil pump, I've stripped good engines that are still surprisingly full of tiny metalic particles from engine wear ________________________________________ Ryan |

Sump off 2 10mm bolts holding a cover on then 3 11mm bolts holding the pump on. Also 1 more 10mm holding the pick up on iirc. |

Yeah sump off, unbolt the pump, there is a little spacer plate underneath it that you need to slide out then you will have enough movement to get the chain that drives it off, very simple when It's in front of you.________________________________________ Ryan |

I'm debating just dropping it an my local engine builders, I know him so it won't be massively expensive. I'm not too sure if all of this is something I can delve into. Debating here. Don't like the R26 at all. If I was buying anything then it would be a CTR or an S2000 (Jackson supercharged, either one)________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! Project Thread Looking for: VTS P1 Rack PR1.2 16" |

The guys at Peugeot are laughing at me when I go in to pick up bits now. They can't understand what I'm doing all this to a 306. I've not even bought half the stuff from them, most of it is uprated so if they knew how much I had spent the would be in stitches________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! All my suspension gear has been second hand off the forum, the only new items have been ball joints and Rich_W roller bearings. Everything else has been off here. ________________________________________ 205 GTi Red - G939 RTU - Died!306 GTi 6 Diablo - Being resurrected! Project Thread Looking for: VTS P1 Rack PR1.2 16" |
