Which one do you think?
I can tell you, I've tried both.

I'd have a 280 NA engine every day of the week. Circuit driving I bet there wouldn't be much in it. I can hang onto 400hp 2wd turbo cars in a straight line around a circuit in my 205. ________________________________________ 230 hp 2.1 16v XU 205 rallye on jenveys Project thread here309 3dr K20 Type R |

dangti6 wrote: 280bhp N/A vs 450bhp charged. Which would be more fun to drive and which would feel faster? Faster for one lap or faster for a race? 450bhp through the front wheels will overheat tyres pretty quick. You'd need to be quite controlled with the throttle and set up the car nicely. Ash seems to do ok with it though, although he is running 8 inch wide slicks... you'd have similar issues with 280bhp but not to the same extent. ________________________________________ Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 1Oulton Park in a BTCC 306 vid 2 Lap of the 'ring |

I'm pretty sure that a 170hp advantage, More than the car came with in the first place, Is going to make the 450 hp one feel faster.Fun wise, On a Track, I dont really know....Surely on track, Speed = fun? So the 450hp one again then. I know which i would want on the road though, Yep the 450hp one. If its a "genuine" rcae car in competition then obviously none of this applies due to as Pete has quite rightly said, You would get owned. But as a track day car/road car, 450hp please. However! If i had lots of $$$$$ I'd most likely built a 2.1 and splash all the cash on a dry sump, bodies, mildish cams and solid lifters and forged bits. ________________________________________ Ex- Phase 3 China GTi-6 T-Reg |

Each has there place, IMO N/A for track, boost for road. That's all it is though, an opinion. Stan maybe you could moderate this thread to keep in on topic rather than turning into yet another tiresome argument about 'hi-boost' versus anything and everything. ________________________________________ www.bridgecraftmotorsport.co.uk |

I would agree there would be a much smaller difference on the track between the two...However, for fast road the NA engine wouldn't be able to produce the same amount of torque in all conditions and therefore would be nowhere near as effective as the boosted alternative. Allenallen - Good idea, let's keep it on the topic from now on then... ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

I dont think outright speed is all that makes going on track fun Eliot. I had no less fun in my 6 around combe than I did in my lancer EVO. I would imagine a high revving N/A would be more exiting on track, what with working the engine hard and all. The charged 6 would show it a clean pair of heels in places though. As with welshpug, ive seen what light cars with crazy N/A engines can hold their own against. Oh, and as for road use, I'd sell my soul to have a car like stans ________________________________________ 2005 Peugeot 206 GTI 1802008 BMW K1200R |

N/A over boost all day long. The maxi is running 305bhp n/a but I bet it would smash a silly boost everywhere and they have 450bhp...________________________________________ See the sheer power and might of the lesser known burrowing owl. |

N/A all the way for me, so much harder to make this kind of power in them, anyone can easily fit a boost or add on turbo like all the toe rags seem to do in out area lol. Its not all about power either. G stick could do with being higher up. ________________________________________ Pug fee`ver,Pick a Bogey, buy a Pug. Rob Blallards Leon in at video probably weighs about 1150kg with just under 500hp (detuned recently to make it quicker) which is like 430 up per tonne________________________________________ 230 hp 2.1 16v XU 205 rallye on jenveys Project thread here309 3dr K20 Type R |

Trying to steer this thread back on track. Pug1off are advising that all we would need to bring the current setup to their stage 3 level is a set of catcams and rolling road session to set up. Has anyone got any first hand experience having fitted Catcam? |
