Right, a few people want the conversion and I would think we're all in the same boat with trusting Grayston.

Basically, Peugeot Sport items will cost around £170 or Grayston at around £40. There will be a HUGE difference in quality, that isn't to say that Grayston won't be fit for purpose however.


What are our feelings? Is it worth contacting a company that could produce the studs and nuts? I suspect we'll not save much on the AI-Tech made parts available from Demon Tweeks

I looked into this you can get some nice Shiny Nuts!
and yeah obviously easier to fit wheels!

Easier to fit wheels with spacers (using long studs and open ended nuts)

I guess it looks like a Micra too?

Speedshack do studs that I know a few people run with good results. Might be worth contacting them?

I'm interested but obviously need a price or a rough idea before I can confirm completely.

Speedshack actually do a group discount for multiples. They also sell Grayston parts, which a search on here or 205 drivers will throw up a few Q.C. issues with nuts tapped off centre or with s**t threads.

You'll also find people who have run them for years without issue.

My main issue is that with Grayston, there's thread into hub > shoulder > wheel nut thread. The shoulder smaller than pitch diameter so there's no physical 'stop'. You rely on loctite to keep the stud captive.

If a wheel decides to come off it means you are less likely to have a damaged wing like what happened to mine.

For a proper fit, always tap every hole for each stud, iv used three so the forth iv used a locking bolt and used the spare for other cars so wheels go on easy.

how often do wheels come off tho?
Actually It happened to me Once in a small van but I'd only had it 2 days so f**k knows who had been working on it.
I'd be up for it if the quality was top notch but I'd rather have the standard bolts than some s**tty cheap stud conversion

3mm drill bit through each stud and 4 R clips holding you wheel on for quick release FTW

    Well, the Grayston bits will be usable but won't leave you wiping up after yourself after you've inspected the threads. But then even retail, they're less than £40.

    The Pug Sport will be much more similar to the AI Tech items and will be great quality and more than likely have a little lead on the stud to get the wheel on even easier.

    If the wheels come loose the studs will just bend/snap anyway, still f**k yer wing up.

    The picture WelshPug has put up is of Pug Sport items from France that an ex-member on here managed to sort out. Rumour has it they're on the go on 106RR forum, but the thread looked dead the last I saw.

    As you can see, the shoulder is nominal width so will provide a stop when fastening into hub

    Would it be possible to do a group by on just the studs? Don't think there'd be any problem with using Grayston nuts on decent studs?

    I'd be happier paying £100 for a decent set as above rather than the £55 I've been quoted for Grayston bits

    Those are the studs I have fitted, 12.9 so less likely to all break if a wheel decided to come off again the studs will give you a bit of extra time. There was no signs of the wheel coming off when it happened, wih studs at least you get a saving grace.

    Just another little reason to have them, I wouldn't tough any less than 12.9 though especially for semi track use etc.
