Alrite chaps,

As some of you will know, I have been having some troubles with my car over last few weeks and not sure what is causing them.

As pugfest will be filled with people with pug knowledge, I hope between us we can get to the bottom of my issues on the saturday?

If anyone is willing to come and help/offer advice/pretend to be a mechanic I will be very grateful, and provide beer or tea to those helping out.

Cheers guys Cheers

Yup, plus a few others:

- Fans not coming on when they should, and gets generally warmer than normal when running with brown sensor unplugged
- knocking from something at the rear (maybe beam? but cant replicate when car isnt moving)
- Occasional idle issues.. Sits at 2krpm, will settle after a few seconds, but sometimes hunts like a b**ch

Those are the main things I need sorting Smile

wasn't there an ECU update by Wayne which addressed the idling issue? that said he's shut up shop and gone working for Porsche last i heard so might prove difficult getting hold of him

did you try replacing or disconnecting the brown plug then? what happens when you take plug out? if nothing = duff sensor, if still works fine but doesn't when running and they should kick in, i'd look at the bitron unit

knocking .. could be anything. i'm sure someone said on here about the pros / cons of beam alterations and knocking was one when changing the bars - assuming that's your spec.

failing that might be solid beam mount snapped stud, i have this - twice - had to reweld the BBM ones up twice

Mines never been a problem for last couple of years, only recently, and only occasional.

I have that knocking at rear and I was thinking the pugsport/bbm solid mounts had broken a stud, now Ricky and another member has said it I'm pretty sure that's what's up with mine.

they split right next to where the stud ends. if you try undoing the nuts from the boot floor and they spin in-situ then you've got an issue LOL

Mine runs the latest update and never had a stalling issues since the SC 2 years ago, just started to have a funny idle.

I have replaced the brown sensor from another car that had no issues, not changed anything, still the same issue. When unplugging the brown sensor, fans seem to run constant, but still gets to higher temps than before (when fans were running as they should)

I know the knocking could be anything, and could be down to the bigger bars. Seems to be more from passenger side, and I keep thinking exhaust as that now sits slightly higher than before (now knocks against gear linkage too)

Was thinking exactly this tbh. If it isn't opening the hot water in the jacket will stay where it is and only the water in the rad is being cooled.

three 10mm's, remove plastic takeoff, remove old stat, clean up, fit new stat, fit takeoff.

    bleed cooling system.

I always drill a 3mm hole in the upper edge oi the stat to aid bleeding as well.

    Laugh

I could probably change the stat etc, but its the bleeding I cant be doing with. Probably mess something up and it properly overheat!

Would rather pay someone, or help out and give them a few beers and have it done by someone who knows what they are doing.
