No I agree Stan I have so much road rage with people who can't signal, it's like my number 1 pet hate. But pulling out on them to force a stop on a roundabout which could cause a crash is a bit silly. For what it's worth just stop and wait. Then give em a bit of signage for good measure LOL

The problem is Chris is that 'signage' doesn't work. People seem to need to be scared into doing things. So, when they suddenly have a scare, hopefully they think afterwards why did that happen? When they work out it was because the driver who pulled out believed they were going straight across as they didn't signal, they will realise it's their mistake and correct it for next time.

As for possibly causing a crash, no this isn't going to happen. As I said, I calculate all risks and have an option for clearing out the way should the offending vehicle look like it's not going to stop. LOL

I know I can avoid it in other words even though the other driver can't. The reason for that is because I am factoring in all what's happening around me and what is likely to/unlikely to happen before I make the move. The other driver on the other hand is just going about their business with not a care in the world for anybody else and hasn't spent time factoring anything at all.

you are counting on them being wise and care about learning though, not all do even after a scare, morons for instance.

You maybe a good driver but what if someone didn't see you pull out and had to swerve and they went into someone else? They may not have the ability to deal with it. And I really really doubt they think what mistake they have done after you've pulled out on them. They are too busy focusing on you. Never say it wont cause a crash isn't going to happen, believe me, they come from no where and happen in seconds.

I know you Stan and I'm hitting my head against a wall so I won't try LOL.

Imo, if they cant come to a safe stop when there was no chance of an accident happening in the first place, then they should'nt hold a license.

Doesn't make it right though does it Ian?

At the end of the day, if say two-thirds of the population can't drive *properly* then ban them. People will soon get the message and if they want to keep their independence they will sharpen up their act I think. Yes

Heard some great news this morning, apparantly from next month police will have the power to give people 3 points and a £60 fine for unnecessarily being in the middle lane of a motorway. Clapping

    At last, some sense.

Agreed its good some sense has been introduced about this.

But as a copper said on the radio this morning, when was the last time you really saw a rozzer on a motorway, that wasn't either parked up talking to some immigrants in a 20 year old Audi or racing somewhere to get to an exit!

The days of them sitting in their special parking bays are long gone, they don't have the money.

THe only times I have done for speeding are by unmarked cars, it sucks but they are the best weapon for doing people who tailgate and lane hog.

I would never tire of it, nor would I tire of doing people on mobiles in their car, that job would never be boring now would it, and think of the money it would raise as we have all done it!! Surely if you paid a copper 20 grand a year with a mate, bought them a 10 grand car, the money you would raise at 60 quid a time would be raised in weeks!!

^ agreed. Im no saint on the road but would still like to see more enforcement, more fines, more points, all leading to a reduced overpopulation on our roads. Who knows, it could even lead to ruducung our insurance premiums....... Probly not though.

The only thing that will reduce insurance prices is loads of cars insured n no false claims.

Exactly. "Educating" other drivers by this method, especially morons, is wasted effort at best and could well result in rending of metal noises accompanied by the tinkle of pieces of glass landing on the road.

So the price of not having insurance is going to go from £100 to £200 - or another report said £200 to £300. When it costs the thick end of £400 for someone with a clean licence in a reasonable area with the car garaged to insure a 13-year-old French hatchback for a year, fines that low aren't really a disincentive even at the higher level. Makes me feel like a bit of a sucker for obeying the law. At that price, even getting caught with no insurance twice in a year you're still spending the same amount of money. If you are 18 with 9 points it positively pays to not have insurance.

Going back the the start of this thread, one of the things they said they would fine in these tough new laws announced today is "using the wrong lane on roundabouts". After my research relating to the near miss with Mr Fat Middle-Aged Beardy Knob With A Temper, the "correct lane on roundabouts" is a matter of opinion about 50% of the time. Though even if a copper saw it, I wonder if the "wrong lane" rule would result in a ticket as a result of exiting a roundabout directly from the inside lane at speed without indicating?

These supposedly tough new initiatives by the Govt are slow news day padding, and will change practically nothing except a few hundred more people getting tickets. Gee whiz.

It will also raise awareness that middle lane hogging is a bad thing. A lot of the people who do it don't seem to realise that.
