I'm researching the required parts/alterations needed to put a gti6 into a 205 gti, so far i've come up with this:

Reangled exhaust manifold
Thermostat/radiator hose adaptor
Relocate radiator
Wiring loom

What clutch do i use to suit 205 cable, Mi16? or is there a cable that will work with the push pull setup?
What do i do about master cylinder clearance, heard that i need to use a base model servo and cylinder?

From what i remember you can use standard 205 clutch cable. Other than that i dont know!

why do you want to do that tho? you have 2 306s there. just get the blue one built up for track and black for road LOL

chris, ive always loved the 205 and i'm now thinking about about getting one, weighs less than a 306 plus they are proper old school cool. totally standard looking 205 with 6 engine and chassis mods would do me fine

Iv used a 406 master cylinder with 6 brakes, its a bit bigger and allows the pedal bite not too low, it feels as it was with old 1.9 brakes i had before.

Iv used mi16 clutch, be3 clutch fork and be3 gear arm. Iv used vts g box so used 1.9 diff using vts crown wheel so 205/309 d shafts can be used. There are other ways but thats how i did mine.

I'm running a vts box and gti6 clutch with a 205 cable

You need to trim some of the plastic cam belt housing to get the master cylinder to fit

Thumbs up

I have a whole car (205 with gti6 in) you can purchase Yes

You don't needto relocate the radiator. You'll have to modify the fan housing a bit to clear the manifold.

you don't need to trim anything if you adjust the pedal box so the servo is raised Yes

doing mine now and pretty much tackled everything now but do not under estimate how much you need.. a proper job means making it tidy and you'll need like water pipes and what not. plenty of bodges toucan do but worth doing right IMO

budget about £1k for bits alone

    I've done so far:

cambelt, waterpump, clutch (valeo), 1.6 gti box, BBM hoses and BBM thermostat adapter, solid lower pulley, wiring loom (DIY), tacho mod (mei), oil pressure mod, also needed 1.9 hubs struts and shafts as the 1.6 ones were no good. rad needs lowering still to clear inlet and exhaust manifold to reangle. but I'm doing it from bare shell, so you can do it on a smaller budget if you're in a rush

you do encounter loads of small things so its hard to itemise it as such. once you're stuck in you'll see why it takes a bit longer than you'd planned

oh moving the wiring to the opposite side of the bulkhead too

I did that, elongated the servo holes higher yet still needed to sort the cam housing. Each 205 has different tolerances so would be a good idea to buy a car already done then modifi it how u want it and recon the engine etc so u know its top. You can only elongate so far before servo hits the car and wont go anyhigher u see.

Some 205's need very little cam cover modification, others loads like mine. However i have all the strength plates fitted so did make the master cy come out more.

I agree using all BBM engine mounts and water hoses in any colour u wish, also the 106 blank one for the right side header tank block if ph 2. I have a spare one if u need it.

Yeah it's surprising how much shells differ. My servo is miles away from the cover so I didn't need to touch it. Others have had to grind a fair bit off. Until you pop the engine in you don't know.

make sure it's the right one, only one of them works and it's the 1.9 one, and a lot of the time you end up with a the 2.0 one

mine's a genuine valeo one, part no 801042, if that helps for cross-referencing

I've been looking for a while for a nice condition 205 GTi6, but all of them seem to be either in tatters or totally stripped and caged. I've got my 306 as a track slag, want something to mess about with on the road

It's the right one. It was fitted to my old 6 engined 309 track car.
