Thanks for everyone's replies, I think I will get hold of a wire wheel and see how bad it is at the weekend. I'll get it through the MOT and then it might be up for sale in a few months. I know they're slower but I really have my heart set on a 350Z or even a nice skyline ________________________________________ Phase 2 Blaze GTi 6 (Standard) SoldPhase 3 Supercharged China GTi 6 (249.8 BHP) Sold Phase 3 Supercharged Diablo GTi 6 (443 BHP)Sold Nissan 350Z (300 BHP) |

So got round to having a go with a wire wheel. So now I am even more confused with what to do. And as I was dropping the car down the jacking point bent to a right angle. So basically FML! Does anyone think it looks bad? ________________________________________ Phase 2 Blaze GTi 6 (Standard) SoldPhase 3 Supercharged China GTi 6 (249.8 BHP) Sold Phase 3 Supercharged Diablo GTi 6 (443 BHP)Sold Nissan 350Z (300 BHP) |

Doesn't look that bad mate yours still have solid metal to weld to! I'm sure it's not going to be that expensive to fix? you'll need to strip back the interior but that's not a bad bit to weld. ________________________________________ Super high boost Completed, destroyer of gearboxes and 160mph club |

Here is a (not very clear) pic of mine after being done:Not a big job as said. Mine are now painted red over the cured mastic and rust proofed inside and it all looks as good as new. Make sure you duplicate the factory drain holes or water will get trapped in there and rust its way out. Lift the carpet in the footwells before getting the welding done. Leave the carpet up until after the welding so it doesn't get burned and so the other side of the new welds can be protected with primer and paint. ________________________________________ Cherry Rallye SOLD |

I really don't know. I love it but I want a newer car and something that doesn't make me look like a 18yo chav Every time I see a 350z I want one so tempted by them ATM. Got a welder coming over on Friday to fix the damage. Then just the rear brakes and new front spring then its going in for its MOT. ________________________________________ Phase 2 Blaze GTi 6 (Standard) SoldPhase 3 Supercharged China GTi 6 (249.8 BHP) Sold Phase 3 Supercharged Diablo GTi 6 (443 BHP)Sold Nissan 350Z (300 BHP) |

Really? I guess I'm kind of in that boat myself actually. Whilst the car is mint and no worries regarding the rust issue, I have got to the stage where it's time to put the Peugeot to one side. Having said that, I guess I'm kinda lucky that if I wanted to buy another car, I wouldn't need to sell the Peugeot to fund the new purchase. However, I don't want to part with the old girl as I've spent a lot of money, time and effort in getting it to where it is now. Therefore, I want to keep it as I've had some great times with that car and am not in a position where I need to sell. Having said that, there isn't really anything out there on the market at the moment which floats my boat enough to go and buy one. I'm more into bikes now anyway, and I'd rather spend my time on that rather than mess around with a car to be honest these days. Therefore, come the end of this year, I will park the car up (this time for good) and go from there. If a car comes on the market in a few years time which really takes my liking I may decide to buy it, who knows, but for now I'm more than happy with what I've got and I'm more than happy to let it sit for a while too. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |
