Completely agree, same goes for Hyundai. At first they were cheap nasty Korean brand, then they came along and started building some really good cars, the i30 (iirc) is a genuine contender for the Focus now.

Also remember that if it weren't for Hyundai (with their then-unheard-of 5-year warranty) and then Kia trying to better them with the 7-year, we'd all still be being mugged off with two- or three-year warranties on cars which should really be built to last longer than that.

The i30 is actually the same car as the new shape C'eed. Im sure some will disagree with me on this but the new shape C'eed build qulaity is on par with BMW build quality i would say. Everything feels so solid and its very very quiet even at 80 on the motorway. Ive got the 1.6CRDi version and its fairly pokey (126bhp iirc) for a 1.6 and is epic on fuel. I brimmed it on friday (£65 from almost empty) and have done 225 miles and its only just touched 3/4 of a tank from motorway driving.
Dont confuse it with the old shape Ceed though. We have a lot of them at work and they kept blowing engines, locking people out of their cars and were generally built like s**t. Terrible terrible cars!

Build quality on par with BMW is a bold claim. In an unexpected internet-forum-behaviour twist I'm not going to give an opinion because I haven't actually owned the i30/Ce'ed.

Someone who also hasn't owned either please rant now please.

I've got a Vauxhall Vivaro Sport CDTi, I say daily drive since I work every day! I think that everyone should own a van, they are just so handy. Go biking, motorbiking, surfing in it, need stuff moved. It is the best thing ever to take to a music festival aswell since you can load it with stuff.

Did I mention vans are good?

Yep i know, very bold claim but ive spent a fair bit of time in new BMWs and i do genuinely believe it. Only time will tell if they will last as long but you certainly get a hell of a lot more for your money!
I do find it comical seeing these reps driving around in their new 316s that they have clawed together the money for and they dont even have bluetooth in them so still risk getting points on the phone whist driving in their clearance M&S suit yet my cheapy bottom of the range kia has voice recognition bluetooth.

Mazda6 2.2d Sport. Love it, might well be the best car I've ever owned. Bought it at 2 1/2 years old for a quarter of it's original price, but 106k miles will do that to a car's value!

I also lease a Seat Ibiza 1.2d Eco-thingy. It was a toss-up between that, the Hyundai i20 and Kia Rio, but the engine I wanted for the Hy-kia had a 4 month waiting list, so I passed. The Seat is not as economical as I think it should be (or it claims to be), I've got nowhere near the urban mpg figure, let alone the combined!

Er, not feeling that to be honest.

This has low mileage and good provenance:

You not keen on them then?

I want something that's good on juice, 1.9 or 2.0 tdi, looks good, I can modify a little and I need an avant to get my downhill bike in, aswel as other stuff, like wheels, car parts etc

Did I mention I want a comfy daily? Lol

I did have a 1.9 Gti for a daily for a while about a year ago, but it's hard to drive steady, I want something that's just easy to live with, the a4 is the only thing that fits the bill really.

My old boy has a 2001 passat I like driving it not to bad on fuel petrol 150bhp 1.8T I'd deff consider a derv passat or Audi a4 as a daily comfort car. I'm looking to replace the Mitsubishi with either an x5 or maybe a gold gttdi
