I've been thinking about a b6/b7 audi a4 avant.

Good choice. I've got a B6 A4 Avant, 130 tdi, fantastic car. Can't fault it

You might not want to hear this but I had a b6 avant 130tdi sport,it was an awesome car! I averaged about 40mpg but that's mainly back roads, short trips etc but.......... I've recently bought an e46 330d touring sport and other than mpg IMO it's a much nicer car than the audi ever was!

I've just got rid of a 330d, but it was an auto, shocking on fuel.

Is yours a manual?

I know, that's why I said it! Mines just had a recon box..... Auto Razz I get just over 30mpg in it but I 'enjoy' it Wink I'm sure a manual would be epic but it was very cheap. My a4 was the equivalent car in all respects but the Beemer just feels miles better quality somehow. If you're after a comfy good looking estate you'll not go wrong with an a4 though. It was a toss up between the beemer and an a4 2.5 TDI Quattro to be honest. The audi will I undoubtably be more reliable too.

A 6 makes a decent daily driver. Not too bad on fuel, relatively reliable, parts are cheap enough and cheap to buy. Smile

Its a toss up of either tbh, i like both of them.

But you can pick up audi's alot cheaper than the bmw's for some reason, im just going to hold out until i find a cheap one i like.

One of my mate's had a manual e90 330d, which is close to 300bhp and he gets 45mpg, which i think is good, but i cant afford one of them lol

I too would also have the 330D over the B6, but the cost of them is alot more for the equivalent Audi. The Audi around town is about 40mpg, as said above. On a long run I've had just under 60mpg out of it. Fantastic car, would have another defo.
