That's pretty much what I thought from reading forums/hearing people talk about them etc.
E46 325is are going for between 1 and 2k with FSH and long MOTs which really is a lot of car and overall a very nice place to be for that kind of money, especially for a 21 year old.
10-13 years old isn't a problem given that my 306s are 15 and 16 respectively.
Having said that, my mint (right down to a clean engine bay) 78k 306 that had been garaged and summer driven for the second half of its life with a stack of reciepts for £1300 plus a negociation of £100 for the remaining tax was/is an extremely nice car for someone my age as well! Although it is looking a little worse for wear now.
Insurers really don't seem to like young people in anything RWD though (understandably), especially BMWs, although admittedly I've only ever had quotes on E36s and older, so maybe newer cars might be viewed more favourably.
