That's one of the disapointing things about the rotrex sc 6's, there is no sound from the chargerNo

You get abit of a whoosh from the exhaust from the forced induction, but I was hoping the chargers would sound like mini coopers etcThumbs down

Errrr are you sure you've been in a 6 with a charger not an ebay electric supercharger cone? lol

My 6 has a stupidly loud exhaust on and you can still hear the charger whistling over the top of it. It doesnt whine like a screw type charger but it sounds the same as a turbo... as its built the same as a turbo but with a pulley instead of an impeller.

You get a slight noise in the car, but standing on the side of the hill at prescott the sc 306's have no noticeable charger noise going past you flat outNo

Possibly, although as I say it will be used from April 1st onwards this year. Yes

Yes, if I drive in confined spaces like walls each side of a narrow road, I can definitely hear my charger whistle if the window is down, in fact I've always been able to hear this even right from when I had the smaller charger on low boost. Yes

Try driving a straight 5 turbo with no downpipe attached Devil
Sounded insane, but nearly killed me with the gasses coming into the cabin. Made a right mess of the heatshields too. LOL

Everyone who spent thousands of pounds on a supercharger or turbocharger got done, you can spend £8.99 and get a double supercharger turbine turbocharger fuel saver air intake fan.

"This mounting will help to improve the low speed car torque, enhance the air flow. Facilitate the gasoline engine room more fully burning, throttle feel more light more flexible. Still can rise to fuel-efficient role"

Can't argue with that logic.

Its sooooo hard to choose!!!!

You do with a supercharger as well. The whole point of a supercharger is that torque delivery is linear as the rotational speed of the supercharger rises linearly with engine speed.

"Facilitate the gasoline engine room more fully burning" Speaking proper England LOL

@adam b I'd like to realise the sound of my straight 5 turbo sound when on full throttle, you can hear that there is a lovely burble there but at the mo as standard you just hear lots of turbo wooooosh

Not being argumentative but turbos seem to make more power and bucket loads more torque than a charger.Wasnt binkas running 400bhp and similar torque ammount too? How much torque does the high boost and silly boost coversions make?

Lots of new, small cars have small engines with turbochargers rather than a larger engine making similar power (eg. Ford Focus with a 1.1 turbo engine rather than say a NA 1.6), because using forced induction makes the engine more volumetrically efficient, which is what Owain is referring to.

But ultimately they do make more torque per hp. Hence why they are using turbo on small engines. Better emmisions and easy grunt. Toms 6 felt brutal. I did like that car. Smile

High boost makes around 280ft/lbs Aaron, Super High around the 320ft/lbs. Either way, comfortably more than the 145ft/lbs they are as standard. Smile

True, but it's more the other way around - the manufacturers have a power figure in mind, then make the engine smaller and the turbo more efficient until they get to that figure - they don't go "ooh awesome, we can put 400bhp out of this Mini as standard", because no-one would buy it.

It's not that they can get more power, it's that they can get the power they want from a smaller engine.

Its also not about peak figures. If you have a decent spread of torque over the entire range you'll find its easier to drive and quicker. The only downside can be that it can seem a bit flat and you can get more wheelspin at low revs. Upside is you tend to use less fuel, hence why turbos are being used more and more. Turbo cars now have so little lag its hard to tell, well good ones anyway.

Ultimately, which ever route you go down you'll have a huge grin on your face as you hammer along. My SC'6 amazes me every time i drive it and leaves me chuckling to myself.
