Ok so not a full maxi, but pretty close.
The car is a Ex UK Group A rally car that ran the RAC rally in 1997 and 1999, plus a few other rallies - Ypres and others as far as I can gather.

A real 'barn find' was locked away since 2001, nearly ready for its next event 12 years later!!!

Specs:

Peugeot 306 GTi/6

Box: Peugeot sport France ML6 6 speed

Diff: Peugeot
Sport France LSD version 2 (45 degree ramp angle)

D/shafts: Peugeot Sport
France

Engine: Kit engine 263 BHP built by Jondell

ECU: Gems
(what prodrive use) mapped for super unleaded - 102 Oct

Peugeot Sport UK engine
mounts and pedal box and AP master cylinders

Pace alluminium radiator
with peugeot sport fans

Clutch:Valeo dry centre 4 plate

Brakes:
Front AP 4 pot/304mm disc, rear AP 2 pot 265mm disc

Dampers: Front white
power with titanium top mounts, rear proflex

Suspension: front peugeot
sport group A suspension armms, steering arms,
rear standard torsion bar with
peugeot sport anti roll bar.

Bodyshell: Full spec T-45 integral roll cage
and group A body shell preperation
Seam welded and seat tubes, rollcage
through firewall into strut tops/brace

Interior: Carbon fibre dash
panels, Coralba tripmeter, TRS harnesses

Electrical: full group A wiring
harnesses with professionaly mounted switches, fuse and warning lights
Stack
integral dash display system

Eventually will have works colours and maxi kit, but is fine as it is for now.

replaces my 205 Mi16 GTI rally car.

yeah, RFY head there, I did wonder what H pattern box the group A cars had, any pics of it? standard 406 turbo bellhousing by the sounds of it and a hydraulic conversion to the pedal box Big grin

looks like a modified 406 gear lever setup with the cables.

No really great photos as I have pulled it all apart - I have an event in 2 weeks, so alot of work to rebuild fuel and brake systems, new seats and belts, and testing.

So only a few pics so far

And yes, I really should start looking for spare maxi bits, but ultra rare and expensive.

This is supposedly a grp A lsd, It say it fits a standard box though, So i guess it all depends heavily on weather the ML6 is "Standard" in a GRP A 306

Here

How did that end up in Sydney... Think its Phil Morgans car and had a sequential in it with loads of problems as Peugeot sport France would not supply software to make it run right. Was built by galral in Dunstable Uk many years ago. Just seen the Morgan motorsport dash so it was phils... Pm me If you want the builder. Mark palmer and Simone galliford built that car. Its as close to a maxi as you could get as pug sport France were complete TOSSEURS to deal with. I spannered on it in ypres and Charlemagne and Flanders. Phil sold it to buy a wrc car. Will let him know where its turned up...got any connection to Simons nutter???

pug sport diffs did not fit standard boxes... They also needed big shafts gkn supplied ours. Guessing the box we had has long gone so that will be the pucker 6speed forest or tarmac box direct from pugsport.

Yes thats the one. Spoken to the builder and the engine builder. Car is in really good nick, has been unused since 2002.
I have not spoken Phil Morgan.

Sounds similar to mine, also built by Galral except mine had a standard engine and box in it. I bought mine from Simon Galliford. f**king awesome handling cars, looks like yours might be in a forest spec judging by the tyres?

The Gp A diff sounds like the one in the BTCC cars, with bigger shafts (apparently the same splines as a mondeo...). Its a ZF one, and is the same as the one in the link above but only suitable for the bigger shafts. And the diffs fit the boxes with minor grinding/machining to the diff housing...

Can you get a pic up of the rear brake set-up? I can just make out the caliper is the opposite side of the disc to the normal set-up, and the caliper looks a hell of a lot more meaty than the stock offering!!

The car looks like a bit of a weapon!! Videos when she's all up and running?! Razz
