ran the car up on a RR to check air /fuel and buttoned back the rev limit from 9k to 7500 for the first event. Still pulled ok numbers even on gravel rally tyres!!! All systems go for Rally Canberra next week.

Yes the car is a nice bit of kit, even compared to the new r2 / r3 cars its nicely done.

Can you get a pic up of the rear brake set-up? I can just make out the caliper is the opposite side of the disc to the normal set-up, and the caliper looks a hell of a lot more meaty than the stock offering!!

The car looks like a bit of a weapon!! Videos when she's all up and running?! Razz

Looks the same AP Racing 2 pot calipers as the btcc cars have. In all honesty they are overkill as the rears lock easily enough with the standard calipers.

How do they run those calipers only though? Is there a cable attachment on them? Thought you had to run cable handbrake as well as hydraulic to keep it legal for road use? Or is that just an 'oversight' by the MOT man?!

Ok, so the car is a bit of a weapon!! Its got plenty of power and handles pretty well.

So we will run a few more events and then make it a wide track one for next year.

Next Rally Coming up - Bega Rally 9th June, which is the 40th one here. There are 80 entries, no idea where we are seeded yet. But its a pretty good event, last time i did it (2009) in a 1600cc Civic we ended up 18th and 2nd 2wd, hoping for better this time.

325km event with 185 km of special stages.Thumbs up

Since the last rally we have tidied up a few things, new drive shafts and a bit of work on the old girl, but its still the ugly colours!!!!

We are car 28. Hopefully all going well we may push top 20 out of 80, but rallying is a funny game sometimes.

Rally Run, We had a few small issues. Blown radiator hose repair incurred 1.30 mins penalty and a fogging screen and no decent night spotlights cost us dearly in time at night, but we completed 180kms of competitive ran as high as 13th, ended up 17th. So happy with that as a 2nd time out.

Video here - we are at 4.13

Another week, another Rally. Entered Bay Stages Rally at the end of the month. Its about 4 hours drive south of Sydney. Normally quite a good event, although I had a big-un there in 2008, took the front 1/4 off the civic vtec, so heres hoping I have learned!!

This weekend is our final round for the year, Myall Lakes rally, recce on Saturday and 120 km competitive on Sunday. So hoping for a good run. We start car 8 on the road. Currently we are 7th in the championship and 2nd 2wd so a little go won't hurt.

Done a little bit of development, softened the front springs from 280 pds down to 190 in an effort to get more turn in and less skatey front end, rebuilt the rear bear ( was shagged) and move to a smaller 185 series tyre to again help with drivability. So all going well we should have pick up some speed. Hopefully!

In rebuild mode for next year:

- Rebuild Shocks
- Check clutch and box out
- New cam belt , tensioner etc
- Rear beam rebuild
- New hubs all round.

But before we finish that - Its off to an unnatural enviroment - The 1/4 mile drags. So off tomorrow night to see what 1000kgs of gravel 6 speed can haul down 400m - hopefully in not to embarasing time

Loaded

And I got a new tow van as well - Fiat Ducato, Turbo Diesel seems a good thing.
