I'm going all in here and saying £25. You're not getting a penny more! :p

It is easy for us to say keep going, we're not in your situation. End of the day it's your project and your decision. I don't doubt you've spent a crap load of money on it and if you really can't be bothered then that's fair enough Smile

And it wouldn't subside due to the old mine shafts dotted around

Either you're just saying that for attention or you have more money than sense to give up so easily after putting so much into it.

But after all the money you've spent why give up now? Comparatively it's a relatively easy/cheap fix if done yourself?

After getting 2 "decent" offers on the whole car, for now ive decided to keep it, had a talk with Marvin, and after spending all our free time on it and without Marvin the thing would still be standing in its place without a motor it wouldnt be quite fair to sell up.

So im starting next week on the reserve engine, and were going to make that one forged with the parts i already have.

Car wont be on the road anymore this year, i suspended it again and removed it from Insurance.
To be really honest, im not that gutted that this has happened, since the clutch problems already ruined the drivingfun of the car.

Will update next week with some pics to keep the show on the road, although motivation is kinda low Wink

thx mate,

I Always wanted a mk2 golf as a project car, ive looked the last couple of days on mobile.de for a new VR6 turbo project.

Maybe there is no comparison between a mk2 and 6, but they ask crazy!!!! prices for very simple cars
A decent engine, no flashy wheels,no big brakes, stock interior, etc etc... 13K euro wont get you anywhere..

indeed screamerpipe FTW!

My '6' is very useable indeed in the wet, I've always been really pleased with the drivability of it in bad conditions. Smile

It's all in the power delivery, SC will rule supreme over the turbos in the wet. Yes

Yep, but if you arent getting wheelspin when pressing the gaspedal in 3rd gear, you aint got 450bhp Wink

My 504BHP SCed M3 would take a step sideways in 4rd gear at 180kmpu on the highway, and that was on 265/30/19 tires

If you shock the tyre carcass when the turbo comes in, that's no surprise.

If you can't put 500bhp through road tyres with 265 sections on tarmac, something is wrong.
