Hey guys need some advice as i moved to kenya i took my 6 as well, the problem am having here is the fuel is no good as far as i have heard from guys with sports cars is that the shell v power here is highest octane fuel one can get which they say is about 94ish octane, just wanted to ask whether the use of av gas( av 100ll) would be ok to use in the car as an alternative to as a higher octane fuel close to what we had in the u.k? thanks in advance.________________________________________ GTI6 - 207.6bhp, 183.4lb/ft and the only one in kenya. |

I think the best thing to do would be to add octane booster to get it up to 95 and leave it at that.Although personally mine runs better on 97 or above. Interesting spec btw Whats in the engine? ________________________________________ Ex- Phase 3 China GTi-6 T-Reg |

Got rid of the air con to help keep engine cool, plus it aint my daily driver . Octane boosters are just gimics, av gas was the one option but just wanted thoughts on whether our engines can cope well with it?or what ratios to use it in?________________________________________ GTI6 - 207.6bhp, 183.4lb/ft and the only one in kenya. |

50/50 mix of AV Gas and 94RON should keep the engine safe fella, cost you less too as the AV gas is no doubt dearer.________________________________________ R H Davey Welding Supplies. av gas as in LPG? yes this works well, ask Jamma.they'll run on lower octane stuff fine as they have a knock sensor, but they'll obviously lose power and torque compared to something running on fresh V-Power. ________________________________________ need a part number? get on here - http://public.servicebox.peugeot.comBring on the Trumpets. |

By chance are you at altitude in Kenya?South Africa only has 93 and 95 RON, but then Witbank is a mile plus above sea level. ________________________________________ I'm Si btwNight Blue VW Golf GTD Bianca LBSC Rallye - Track/Road Slag Project Thread Sparkling Silver Mini Cooper D - Super Dooper - (The other half's wheels) |

the drive was just a joke mate, i actually had it shipped dont think a 6 can swim. av gas as in aviation gasoline for piston engined aircraft not lpg, it doesnt run better on lower octane as when i was in u.k it ran perfect on v power.. altitude is lower as kenya is on the equator. av gas is about £1.20 a litre from here as regular is about £0.60.il give the 50/50 ratio a try thanks again. ________________________________________ GTI6 - 207.6bhp, 183.4lb/ft and the only one in kenya. |

As above. Nairobi is apparently over a mile above sea level, no wonder your highest octane is 94, have you not noticed a relative lack of oxygen? Witbank in sa is the same altitude and the average air pressure is circa 875 mbar, considerably lower than at sea level.Suggest reading up on octane and altitude. ________________________________________ I'm Si btwNight Blue VW Golf GTD Bianca LBSC Rallye - Track/Road Slag Project Thread Sparkling Silver Mini Cooper D - Super Dooper - (The other half's wheels) |

Bad times, I'm glad the '6' and the Gixxer are tucked up together in the nice warm garage and won't have to see any salt. ________________________________________ "Supercharged - 454.1bhp/317.5lb/ft"Peugeot 306 GTi-6 2000 (X), Moonstone |

I'd be surprised if you'd notice lower levels of oxygen at 1,600 metres, it's only ~300 metres more than Ben Nevis and there's no struggle for air up there. Maybe if you were exercising in Nairobi you'd feel it. Simply walking up steps on the Altiplano is a challenge though. |
