Yeah, sensor on the barrel to tell you what gear you are in on a dash display.

Because the barrel rotates, so you need a sweep of voltages, you use the same pot to setup the flatshift too.

hmm, if i was to buy one of them id have to strip the car back and make the actual chassis itself awsome to go with the awsome box eg
would seem like half a job having that box and my engine in a otherwise standard chassis eg
id have to leave it with you philip for a year or 2 to do a philipm buggy/john sleath kind of job eg

ST82 would fit indeed but you'll be on its limit so doubt you'll get a guarantee, though given the nature of the delivery I wouldn't imagine you having any issues.

A standard box which is strengthened will do just fine.

I've done trackdays with mine, no issues, and a whole mortgage less than one of those boxes you're looking at. LOL

I would sayt shotpeened internals and possibly cryo treated (clicky) is your best bet to make a 'box last. Otherwise as has been said just stockpile cheap boxes and replace it once or twice a year

I wouldn't bother with the cryo treatment, just as Stan has, have them shotpeened, and if you want to go further, micropolished/superfinished after to reduce stress at the roots.

thats what i will probably do, im in a situation at the moment where i dont know what my future holds, theres going to be some big changes in my life which will be very positive eventually and will be for the best for me, i know im going to come out the other end happy, but its going to be very hard for a while but i dont think as hard as it has been for me, and i dont know when the good times will come back, if i had any sense id cash the car in after the repair but after the work ive put in and the amount of time/thought that ive put into it and how its kept my mind occupied in some hard times it means a lot to me, plus it will be a long time till i can get somthing on par with it if ever.
so ill never sell it, its going to stay inside a main dealership safe, warm and dry until january when they will start the repair, ive told them i dont care how long it takes, they can have it a year, i just want it doing to a high standard.
they will probably let me go in a and change the box and diff over while its in there i hope but i need a new clutch, the helix paddle with standard pressure plate is definatly not up to the job, since i put it in 5th instead of 3rd and it slipped like f**k for a few moments till i realised it wasnt wheel spin its never held the power since.

You could always flog it and try something with a bit more torque that doesn't shred it's gearbox every 5 minutes Whistle Smug

I very much doubt they will let you do that Andy to be honest unless you know the owner or something, as their company insurance won't allow non-employees to carry out work in the workshop.
