I weighed each of the following parts before I posted, as I have all of these in the garage at the moment:

The weights from the Nissens catalog are marked as gross, and as such include packaging.welshpug! wrote: you f**king geek Perhaps, but at least now there's an accurate figure, rather than just wild guesses Considering the evaporator won't come out without removing the dash, and the rear pipes are a ball-ache to remove without taking the engine out you're only looking at just under 10kg of easily removable weight, rather than the 30kg that you claimed. ________________________________________ Rich |

Where are you based? Club MSV do taster sessions in the evening for £25 for 20 mins. First thing I did when I bought the track car was to take it on one of these to give the car a run and see how it went.Turned out it understeered a lot so I've started acquiring parts to sort it out ________________________________________ Rallye Race Car |

A cage does more than just protect you in a crash, a proper one makes a hell of a lot of difference to the chassis rigidity. ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |

I'd like to get a new steering wheel and drivers bucket seat to accompany all the stripping and tyres. Went to a local car shop today and they said most manufacturers have stopped making bosses for the steering wheels on 306's because you are no longer allowed to remove the airbag bulb and they check for that. Is this true? How can I keep it Road legal with an aftermarket wheel which means no airbag? I'm also not sure about the rules for bucket seats. Anyone know? Thanks. |

They airbag thing changed, it's only an advisory now and not a failure. Could change in the future though. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

Yup same as spare wheel, if its in the car and bald it's a fail but if you take it out and don't have one at all it's a pass!Same with abs and airbags |

Ok so removing the bulb should be easy enough. What about the rules for buckets seats/Harnesses? |

Bucket seats are fine, leave the original seatbelts in as well and then the harnesses don't have to be tested. The difficulty is that some of these rules say that if the car had it as standard, it has to work. Luckily some MOT testers know the rules and so (like mine) pass the ABS because it was completely and safely removed; just removing the bulb will fail if there's still an ABS system installed. Currently it's okay for the airbags not to work if you've completely removed the entire system, and an advisory if it is there but doesn't work. That could well change though. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

Just my 2p! After doing the whole Track day thing, Myself & a few mates got to know what worked & what didn't on 2 track slag 306's.Don't waste your money fannying around with expensive R888's,Search eBay for a set of secondhand Michelin slicks. We bought our set for £100, pound for pound they where the best mod done to the cars. Obviously you'll need another set of cyclones or Pro Race 1.2's & they'll provide you with far more grip than any road legal tyre. Don't bother installing an oil cooler unless you want to go full out on an open pit lane day staying on track for hours on end! The correct grade engine oil is all you'll need not 10w 40 Like mentioned before don't waste money on trying to gain bhp.Better off learning to drive the car properly! we spent close to £2k on our car but it's a hell of an experience you won't forget if done properly ________________________________________ Phase 1 bianca white GTi-6:SOLDPhase 2 blaze yellow d-turbo:Off to scrap heaven Phase 2.5 platinum silver GTi-6:Just purchased :-D |

I'm tempted as a step up from the a048s but read slicks go in heat cycles and after about 8 they lose a hell of a lot of their grip ________________________________________ team: Stealth |

We ran two cars around Cadwell park (which is a very demanding circuit) a few years back on slicks staying out for 25minutes at a time & they never lost grip! We where passing low boost six's with ease.If I was in the position to do track days again slicks & brake pads would be first on my list________________________________________ Phase 1 bianca white GTi-6:SOLDPhase 2 blaze yellow d-turbo:Off to scrap heaven Phase 2.5 platinum silver GTi-6:Just purchased :-D |
