Cars don't need servicing though. Or petrol for that matter. |

Pretty broad range of suggestions in this thread, It's just been serviced pads are all fine. Think I'l go for tyres new steering wheel, strip out and a lowering of 60mm front and rear. Is removing the AC worth it/difficult? - How heavy is that useless lump anyway? |

Then the one with 888's will be lapping far quicker Fact. Then the grip levels of racing tyres (different compound slicks etc) are another step up. I'd advise finding out for yourself ________________________________________ Team Astor Grey Supercharged GTI 6 |

The other thing to remember is that you cannot defy physics, there's a certain amount of g-force applied to a car going round a corner at a certain speed, and adding grip to the tyres just adds to those forces. At some point, something's going to give. If you have crappy tyres, it's the grip that gives and you just squeal a bit. If you have slicks or 888s the grip is much greater, so it'll be a droplink or suspension component that goes instead as they're exposed to much higher forces. Not that any of this matters, just put some new road tyres on and get it on track. ________________________________________ Membership expiring soon, get in contact on our new little forum project. |

As owain says just get it on track and see how things go then figure out what you need to improve and go from there ________________________________________ Clicky: click here remove the space between [url & = |

I'm not doubting the fact you may be a talented driver. You could be the worlds best driver. My point being that to say "you can keep up on parada's" and that a car is no better with a set of 888's than a set of 30 quid tyres is ridiculous. And Owain you can quite easily have a Gti sliding on 888's in the dry or wet Agreed though that by upgrading one thing it then just transfers the added stress onto other components In my opinion a set of good semi slicks are the single biggest upgrade you can make. And there are plenty of experienced track drivers on this forum who will agree. ________________________________________ Team Astor Grey Supercharged GTI 6 |

I'd be tempted to fit an oil cooler, one of the very few things i did on my road going car after i had it on a track. If it's your first time though i'd just make sure the car is serviced and in good condition and enjoy the day then see where you want to go from there. Keep an eye on the oil temp though as they will very quickly get to 140 without a cooler. ________________________________________ Goldie the track car. |
