LOL Well there you go. Try breathing through your mrs' tights and pretend it's a K&N, then try again through one of the grumble mags you've hidden under the bed and pretend it's stock. Big grin

But why out of the three types of intake I've used does my car drive better and create good power with it like this?

Not that I'm really interested TBHBig grin cause I'll be leaving it as it is because it worksThumbs up

A dyno fan is generating nothing like the airflow needed to prove ram air is working, you'd be lucky to see it on a chassis dyno as anything other than normal run variation, until the airflow over the entire car was in the 100-120mph+ range.

It's not ram air. End of.

This is true, just like my concerns that the CDA airbox does f**k all except eat torque.

My car feels far more responsive now that (admittedly broken) piece of carbon pap has been replaced with a de-resonated standard setup

When you say de resonated, do you mean the bit on the side of the actaul box if gone,
Or have you remove the hemzoltz thing on the inlet?

He means the resonator on the side of the airbox not the bit under the manifold. Wink

My car felt faster the other day after it rained.

Ergo, the rain must have added 10bhp!
Can't have been anything else, like me taking the welder out of the boot, must have been the rain Yes

Prism7guy is making the same power as you with a standard scoop, so if he cuts it, I bet it'll get him 10 seconds off his laptime at the 'ring!

Laugh my ass off I genuinely audibly laughed at the "knobby attitude" part. I'm sorry but from you, that really is quite funny. Have you heard of the "placebo effect" at all? Just because it's your "handiwork" you "feel" like it's making a difference. I'm telling you, Phillipm is telling you and if you ask anyone who's ever done any real or "on paper" work on aerodynamics will tell you that you are quite simply wrong.

I must admit though a p[art of me is beginning to feel a bit daft for continuing to reply to you. Your commitment to being ignorant and stubborn is really quite something so I'm not sure if you really are that retarded or if you're just bored and on the wind-up. Either way I think you've made your "point" so I've nothing else to add to this thread, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt (see, I'm nice like that) and say bravo - you got me.

But just in case, folks, avoid any "performance advice" you see written by this chap, or at the very least think about what he's saying before you go ruining your cars.

The full Nordschleife is pretty long you know (that said I've never been there myself, but I've read that it's 14 miles long so in the real world it's probably only a few yards) so over a whole lap all those extra ponies must add up to at least a few minutes, surely!

I mean for air intake mate, is it having a negative effect? To be fair I'm getting a standard box and pipes so will test both but I'm interested to know if having the intake lower is bad for intake?

What on Earth has the "Venturi effect' got to do with how low the air intake is? LOL

That comes about where air is forced through a smaller hole and picks up speed and loses pressure...
