This. Why not pop into your local police station and enquire if they have any issues with your vehicle, focus on the point that you've been followed home by a police vehicle on multiple occasions recently and would like to understand why.

The police are patrolling the estate where you live probably looking for burglars, robbers or car thieves and following cars that they see driving about in the early hours of the morning (id be suspicious of anyone driving about in the early hours without obvious good cause) while they conduct a check on the vehicle and when they see that your all legit they drive off and go and look sfor someone dodgy and thay havent stopped you or impeeded your journey in any way while they try and keep your estate safe?

This is the most likely reason tbh. He's just making sure everything is ok within the estate and you're there for a legit reason.

But you don't need a DOB to do a PNC check for a car, just for a person check (well even then you don't really need it). There are two types of PNC, vehicle check then/or driver/persons check. Generally this is done once they've stopped someone. There can be checks they can do on their MDT or if they call up control to see if everything is ok while driving along though.

I think it all depends on the kind of guy you get. After all, the police are just humans like the rest of us. If you get a cop who has an interest in modified cars for example you won't have a problem if you're pulled over in one. If you get a guy who *hates* people in modded cars and detests loud exhausts etc then they'll try and book you on anything they can find. Yes

I personally haven't had a problem so far with my '6' when it was on the road, maybe it's just pot luck. No pun intended. LOL

+1 and i have not been followed in any of my 306's or noticed that a 306 atttracts more attention. Like previously ssid there is so many other more important reasons to follow someone than the type of car they are in.

You obviously don't stick to the speed limit with 9 points! LOL

Maybe it's your driving that's got them watching as you've presumably been caught 3 times and were worried about the 4th!

There are coppers around here all the time both in vehicles and on foot, but I'm sure it is more to do with all the empty new houses around here and very little to do with the odd 13-year old French hatchback.

Although it could be to do with my good looks. I'm sure that blonde one fancies me.

If you had no convictions at all then i would have suggested enquiring about why they are following you. But considering you do, i'd expect such attention. they are simply doing their duty.

Just gives you extra reason to not f**k up. Big grin

Also whoever said that your car is marked and they can do a PNC check and find your previous convictions.

to do a PNC check you need a date of birth and it is bloody hard to gauge the age of a driver who drives past you in the dark so really theres little chance they are doing one.

Why do you need a DOB to perform a PNC check on a vehicle? LOL

thanks for the stories. i had a clean license of 5 years untill a c**t of a lorry driver c**ted me over, then an extra c**tish police officer made it his mission to get me off the road, hence the 9 points instead of a year ban (go lawyers!!!). i am a responsible and safe driver.

and as irony had it, they followed me home last night....again. this time (2am) from the same area but they moved on from a group of about 6 lads down my estate. i did say something this time.

it went along the lines of, ok right officer.....you know i live here this is the third time youve followed me home. between a bunch of drunk/stoned skallies and a resident of this estate for 24 years, who do you really think is upto no good? and if your still saying me i want to know why exactly?

his response was there under age so theres not a lot i can do, im following you becuase you could be part of their group :S

i mean common seriously.......ffs......i pay my taxes so the police can get scared off by a bunch of skallies and come after me instead. i felt like offering to show him antisocial behaviour/loitering should be handled

with a baseball bat and some f**king balls.

loooool heard this so much it makes me laugh. Calm down, it's 2am youths are on your estate and are obviously up to no good. By the sounds of it police are doing something because they keep around your estate, if they were not there they could be tearing it up. Chill they are doing their job and at the end of the day they aint making your journey home any longer.

To be fair I would expect to be followed whenever I'm driving at 2am. Just incrediably late to be driving anywhere, not that I'm saying you can't.

Nonsense quite frankly, typical time for a split shift worker to finish work - our 24hr machines have three operators and the late shift is 6-2.
