Yes but yous cut the subframe. This subfeame is untouched. I am going to have to chop it a little tho for when i drop it. Want it about the same hight adam had his. Do you have any pics of his subframe?

What did you have to cut? Was it just where the shafts cross over or did you have to chop anything else?

Whats your thoughts then? Lift the subframe and cut around the diff and downpipe? Shafts look very close to the subframe and would have thought they would catch it if i lower the car.
I will measure the spacers tomorrow if i can get in the garage and if its not flooded!

Been down having a little mess on today and got a few pics of the subframe and measured the spacers ect...

The subframe spacers are 30mm

The subframe has only been cut around the diff but still lots of room between the down pipes and box but there is not a lot of room between the subframe and shafts. Noticed both inner CV boots are leaking all the grease too Angry more f**k on to do!

Then cracked on with removing the sump. Came off quite east to be honest. The sumps are just tin so my dad is going to see about welding the split while am at work. Give it a good clean up aswell while its off. Tidy bit of work inside, Baffled sump Cool

Here is the clearance from the road at the minute

Then cracked on removing the front end so i could fit my lightened front panel and morettes when they turn up Cool

Standard:

Lightened:

Thats all for today. Away to work now.

welshpug! what do you make of the subframe? Was Adams much different?

Simple thing to do is not to "slam" it but you're not one for listening to others so crack on and f**k it up with our 60mm drop Thumbs up

that engine must sit a fair bit lowr than when we did adam;s as the CV's were that close with 20mm shorter spacers, which means 20mm more clearance to the sump.

also a better angle on the wishbones.

Might be worth me getting one of them SES top mounts as the one on here looks home made. How did you get the gearbox mount to sit a little higher? Was the top mount lifted too or just in its origional position?

Who would of thought ya could get so many problems from a DIY V6 Conversion purchased second hand LOL

I didnt mind to much with the faults i had as the car was cheap enough to start with and cant wait to get it back from Pug1Off as i did all that i could to sort the little things out but getting 1off to go over everything and sort all the mountings out as it was sitting a bit to far back and and to one side also.

The downpipes were squashed for subframe clearance and the shafts were pretty close but had no issues with them but the car was pretty lowered and no spacers were used. shame i didnt have it to help ya out with how its all set up from the pros!

Liking the lightened front panel! Gonna start lightening my V6 after March with maybe a carbon bonnet and poly windows etc

Keep up the good work mate ;-)

The SES mount will screw up the positioning and move it back quite a lot. Stick with what you have if its not rubbing the shafts at the moment.

Lowering the car won't make the shafts sit closer to subframe!LOL If anything will increase your clearanceWink

Presume you are you lifting eng/box abit higher?

As you won't be able to lift the subframe far with the small clearance you have from cv joint to subframeDunno

If i can bring the engine up a bit and keep the subframe where it is it will help a lot with ground clearance.

Today was freezing. Dont think it topped 2oC max but work had to be done! Yesterday the morettes and new grill turned up while i was at work Smile was up quite early today so made a start cleaning a few things up and got the sump fitted along with a new oil filter and some fresh oil. After this i had to take an hour or 2 to warm up, toes were like ice cubes!!
Cracked back on once i had warmed my feet up getting the front end back together fitting the lights ect...
Right lets start her up. ... nowt! f**k SAKE Angry
after a f**k on for looking for my jump leads i had no luck finding them so i had jake push me down the street LOL still no luck starting it. So off went take to find his jump leads and hey presto 5 mins charge off the mini and the V6 was alive Big grin
Took it for a drive up the road and back and all seemed fine so i parked up and went in the house to get warmed up and changed ready to go for some food. Car is still where i parked it at 4pm locked and not going anywhere :/ Battery is totally dead! previous owner have removed both door locks too so thats that idea f**ked! battery is in the boot too so i need to get into the car now to get the battery out! f**k SAKE MAN! why remove both locks?

Anyway its getting there, not keen on the morettes but might look ok once the car is painted and the inner lamps have been removed

Well i have bought a sump guard and i am getting shot of those speedlines. I dont like them!
Spill looking to lift the engine a little to give it abit more ground clearence from the sump, also i have bought a sump guardfor it what will offer a little more protection. I only want to drop it about 40mm to get it to standard hight as the subframe has been dropped what has lifted the car 30mm. 250lbs springs on the coilovers should give it a little more support aswell. Will just have to see what its like once i get things sorted. Need to get into the thing 1st LOL

Been looking at buying another car tho so may turn this into my astor track toy replacement Wink all depends if i get into karting next year tho?

dropping the subframe does not alter the ride height, only the angle of the wishbones.
