If it uses the stock ecu, the answer is yes I expect. Give him a call on 07874328306.

What catcams are you running mate? Also are you running stock injectors too?
Will need to speak to wayne soon to have mine mapped again as the map on mine with the cat cams in isnt too good to be honest, seems to be running rich too. Also have my VLR BTCC inlet to fit so hopefully the map you have on yours may be good to run on mine

Mines on throttle bodies mate - totally different map, he may be able to use bits of it though.

Definitely get on to him - and let me know when you are down there and I'll come say hey!

OK... so....

Got the car out of the mates' workshop, finished mapping it (227hp and 170lbft), then promptly MOT'd it and put it back on the ramp again. Lol.

Fitted a set of KSport adjustable coilovers, then stuck it on the Geo machine, setup camber, castor, toe etc before giving it a full corner weighting setup:

Finished fitting my electric PAS setup:

Also fitted solid engine mounts, solid rear beam mounts and sorted a few knocks and rattles from the suspension... then, finally... BROUGHT IT HOME!

We've lived in our new house since October, and this is the first time I've actually parked it on the drive here.

The drive home from the workshop was amazing. Was a little ginger with it at first, given it's been sat for a while... but when I did give it the beans, my god - it's quick.

Corner weighting the car showed up a few weaknesses, like the fact that 66% of the cars weight is at the front, and only 34% is at the back. However, cross axle is next to perfect.

Also, with half a tank of (stale) fuel, and a load of spare parts inside, the car weighs in at 984kg. I reckon without all the spare manifolds, spare wheels etc inside, it would probably be pretty damn close to 960kg.

Got the love back? Hell yeah.

Watch this space!

JP

What's the spec of the engine now jamma? I know r/r figures are nothing to go by but 200lbft is a hell of a lot of torque for a 1998cc 6!

It's not 200lbft, I was wrong. It's just a touch over 170lbft, through the midrange and 226hp at 7000rpm, without much point revving it past that despite an 8000rpm rev limit.

I do think the dyno is a touch optimistic, however it is a fully calibrated Bosch unit.

Car has staggered inlet trumpets, some light headwork, total seal rings, arp rod bolts and acl main bearings.

Why staggered? surely thats not going to help the balance of the cylinder power?

Good job on getting those total seal rings to work though!

It's something to do with resonant frequencies affecting the inlet pulses or something, Pete Rallye had staggered trumpets on his btcc iirc...

Moves the resonance in the torque curve out of phase to smooth it out. Read about organ pipe tuning....

I'll get the dyno plots if you like. You'll see one set of resonance for one set of trumpets, another resonance for another set, and then a third, smoothed torque curve for a mixture of both.

but how do you get the fuelling correct on all 4 cylinders without spending thousands on an ecu and fitting 4 wideband sensors?

Surely having varied trumpet lengths isn't changing the mass flow rate of air being drawn in, hence no need for varied fuelling on different cylinders, it is just preventing the air induction for all four cylinders from resonating at once.

It does exactly what you think it isnt.

can't help but think each cylinder is not working in balance with the others.

227hp! You'd be lucky!

Mines making that power with an 88mm steel crank, steel rods, 87mm forged pistons (2088cc), cat cam 109's, mild headwork from Sandy, Jenvey DCOE's, Colin/sandy long inlet manifold, 8 injectors, DTA E48 ecu, maniflow works exhaust manifold, 2.5' system, dry sump etc

In his defence there was something in PPC a little while back on walkers workshop about varied length trumpets and testing it all
