Nope, arc rays burn me to a crisp and I hate sizzlers landing in my earhole and down my neck so I'm covered from head to toe, it's also frigging cold so any excuse to wrap up warmer is fine with me.

Not the best look, but having a piece of red hot metal sat inside your clothing when you can't move about much isn't a good thing either! LOL

No Clear indicators

Thankfully no. All the local scrap collecting pikeys round here have clear indicators in their Smiley Transits, the Ambers suit the fresh white paint a treat

^^^ Definitely, no clear repeaters on this Transit.

Rotary wire brushed the rust off the side rails and tail lift uprights today prior to rust treatment. Top-Tip of the day is to use a spray gun to apply the Bilt Hamber rust converter, gives really fast even coverage and dries silky smooth without the air bubbles and brush marks you usually get. It's runny stuff though so spray it on light and build up the coats. (I didn't and got runs LOL )

I hope that no matter how beautiful the cab is, no matter how rust-free and fresh-from-the-factory the back end looks, that the rear light will remain held on with cable ties.

It's like a reminder of how it once was.

Exactly. Every day you'll see it, and it'll remind you what you went through. Like how rich people who used to be poor keep their cheap wedding rings because it is sentimental and reminds them to appreciate what they have.

I don't want to be reminded though! That's why this project thread will self destruct in:

I'd love that, seems such a waste to put all this energy into a delivery truck, it would be so nice to have something at the end of it that you could cherish, nobody loves a Transit Sad

Yesterday I got practically f**k all done, made dome drop pins to hold in a safety rail for when our lads are moving gas cylinders around on the bed and that's about it. Too many distractions during the day.

Today I completed my repair on the drivers side chassis rail, what an immense pain in the balls this has been. The chassis was rotten all along the bottom and up the sides in some areas. The part of the chassis where the bump stops go is double section and quite complicated. It all needed to be replicated to restore the strength or else the rail would be dented when the suspension bottomed out. So I chopped out all the rot and made this...

Then I tacked in the rotten sides I cut out...

After that I finished off preparing my repair section, drilling holes for plug welds and a water drain with a flared hole at the lowest point...

Then I clamped the bugger in place and welded the s**t out of it. I hit it with a hammer a few times too cos I felt like it...

Pics of the hammer to follow Smile

Not a clue but if guess a solid six to eight weeks. Most of the work has been spent putting right s**t work others have done. I could happily beat a few of our previous vehicle repairers to within an inch of their worthless f**king lives!

I felt like launching my angle grinder yesterday, through no fault of its own mind. I was cutting in a confined space and the disc jammed firing the tool back and hitting me right between the f**king eyes, smashed my safety specs into the bridge of my nose cutting into the skin and the corner of the gearbox hit me in the forehead, it then climbed up and took a chunk out of the peak of my cap! I'll be glad to see the back of this truck, I think it's cursed.
