Or are the flatbed mk6 chassis that teeny bit heavier?
What are those weights you are quoting? Chassis/cab? By the time you have a sturdy bed, one that will take a point loading of 1400kgs in a metre square footprint without the crossmembers collapsing, a strong tail-lift for when you are loading/unloading individual cylinders, twin rear wheels, tick all those boxes and you are left with around 1000kgs left for payload. That's a fair bit shy of where we need to be. Plus, all feedback we get from companies using heaviliy loaded modern Transits is that they are crap for reliability. Dual mass flywheel issues, starter motor failures (as a result of failing dual mass flywheels) injector pump problems, crap running gear. Average service costs of a grand whenever it gets worked on for one thing and another, no, mechanics and others in the trade have advised us to run the old @smiley face' Transits as long as we can as from a load carrying point of view and cheap servicing they can't be touched by the modern version.
Fuel economy is poor and performance is shocking, they struggle to reach motorway speeds on hills when fully loaded, but they just go on and on.
