Awesome. I'm presuming it feels a bit soft and free is that it's new parts and the box isn't mounted yet? I also connected linkages and the gear lever can select gears without pressing clutch pedal

Have you taken the speedo housing off?

If you've not bolted the box up the clutch won't work

If the bearing is located properly, then you should be able to refit the arm and it sit almost parallel with the driveshafts, but towards the bulkhead slightly. Yes

You should also have been able to look through the inspection hole at the top of the bellhousing as the box was going on to see the fork slip behind the bearing. Wink

I think it must be behind as the arm is parallel to bulkhead and its impossible to move it by hand towards the rad...

The housing is 3 bolts, If it's off then the shim has fallen out, this needs fitting back or the diff bearings wont have any pre load on them

Miles,

I think he meant that the bellhousing was bolted up temporarily with 2 bolts not the speedo housing. Wink

Miles means the 'metal ring that fell out from somewhere', its one of the shims to make sure the diff bearings are suitably held in position. Without it the bearing will probably disintegrate pretty rapidly, and I would hate this poor chap to have to go through all this again!

Cool, I was pretty sure that ring was for the diff, it just goes in before the speedo housing right? I've also got 2 massive thick washers that I can't remember where they came from? It's bolted up and mounted now so nearly time to test if its been done properly lol

stick some pics up of what you haven't got fitted.

from memory there's one under the stud for the mounting, so can't think where another one would have come from.

the diff bearing shim is 62mm o-d, 55.2mm i.d, and the thick one under the mounting stud about 3mm thick rougly 60mm in diameter with a 14mm hole.

just attacked my 205 one. my top arm was seized on there solid and the pin was mashed. drilled through it and just as i got to the last bit the casing inside the box at the top where the bush presses against it snapped! (the thin circular webbing bit purely for the bushes to sit around) so hoping it holds up enough to allow movement without too much play

top bit where the yellow bush grips onto. the circular metal webbing around the top of the box. the thinner bit has snapped off

i think there's enough there for the teeth on the bush to grip to. i could always weld a little arch in there i suppose. i will see

I think I've worked it out, the big washer under the stud and the smaller one sits perfectly on top of the mount before the 18mm nut.

That can't be the one that fits above the stud, certainly not as standard as the standard fit washer has a "D" shaped hole in the middle of it to accomodate the flat section of the stud. Yes

There's one of those d shaped ones, it's very small in comparison though.

The "D" shaped one fits directly under the 18mm nut on top of the mount. Yes

I can't think where one of those would go, unless you've had the top engine mount off?

the only one that goes under the nut is one with a D shaped hole.
